Alfred the Great, who reigned from 871 to 899, was a visionary and resilient monarch who played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of England during the tumultuous Viking Age. Despite facing numerous challenges, including Viking invasions and internal strife, Alfred displayed remarkable strategic acumen, military prowess, and administrative genius. He successfully defended Wessex against Viking incursions and laid the foundation for the unification of England, earning him the epithet "the Great." Alfred's reign saw advancements in education, law, and culture, with his patronage of learning and the establishment of fortified towns contributing to a revival of English identity and unity. Alfred had a reputation as a learned and merciful man of a gracious and level-headed nature who encouraged education, proposing that primary education be conducted in English rather than Latin, and improving the legal system and military structure and his people's quality of life. His legacy as a wise and just ruler, scholar, and military leader endures as a cornerstone of English history and identity.

My only issue is 80% Richard I? Really? He was a great warrior and crusader. He was a horrible king, his mother, who did a much better job as monarch, was regent for most of his reign.

This is why I said it’s incomplete without Henry II, it’s really a kind of skin-deep reading of history. Richard wasn’t half the monarch his father Henry II was and the fact that Eleanor of Aquitaine was even able to maintain a stable government was partly due to her own nous but far more down to the political genius of Henry II in fashioning such an effective governmental machine that didn’t require the king to constantly be present. Also, there’s the fact that Henry II founded a legal system that daily and directly impacts the lives of hundreds of millions across the English-speaking world even after nearly eight centuries (English Common Law).

True although I was referring to my own test results.

Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837 to 1901, was a formidable and influential monarch whose character was defined by a mixture of strength, resilience, and conservatism. Ascending to the throne at a young age, she presided over a period of profound transformation in Britain, including the Industrial Revolution and the expansion of the British Empire. Victoria was known for her strict moral code, dedication to duty, and a deep sense of public service. She was also deeply devoted to her husband, Prince Albert, and their large family. Her lengthy period of mourning after his death in 1861 became emblematic of her values and reign. Despite her conservative views and intermittent resistance to change, Queen Victoria's reign saw significant progress in areas such as social reform and women's rights, and she became a symbol of national unity and stability during a period of rapid change and growth for the British Empire.
