Got into a huge argument with my best friend, during which he pointed out some of my biggest character flaws:

1) I tend to make the same mistakes over and over again, each time forgetting how much the previous time I fell had hurt.
2) I forget to keep in mind that there are people out there in the world whose problems are much greater than my own - children die in Somalia, girls/women are molested and/or raped across the world every day, there are still some major Middle Eastern conflicts going on, etc.
3) I try to push others away who genuinely care about me, whenever I'm an emotional wreck; I get defensive with them, even when I know they're only trying to help.

I have to fight this battle on my own, and remove these inner demons. But I'm at least grateful that I have a friend who can openly criticize me for my own good. :)

LESSON #8: Let your family and friends criticize you. They only want the best for you, and it doesn't hurt to see things from their point of view.
