It is starting to boil over.
Especially since now various other member states want the same exemption. What would mean that entire asylum policy is going down continent wide.

With the shift of France to the right it is kinda logical that left wing German government will try to buddy up more with Spanish left wing government. After all both of these are on the ropes, so they both need more friends.

Scholz’s Social Democrats ahead of far right in German state election, exit polls signal

In Germany and Europe in general exit polls are quite correct. But 1% difference is within margin of error even for Germany.
Plus anti-system parties AfD+BSW make 42% of the vote, what in a sense is the defeat of mainstream politics. Especially if we add 3% of Linke and 3% of FW. Which are borderline anti-system parties.

Therefore Center left, center right and greens will probably have very very slim majority once this is over. However if greens get 4% instead of 5% they wouldn't get any seats since they will be bellow the line of 5% that gives you seats. Therefore in that case there will need to be some freaky coalition to make something out of this.

It is all pretty unclear until the votes are actually counted.

Updates
Greens have 4.6% of the vote, so they are probably out of the picture if there aren't big changes as votes are counted.

SPD+CDU have 42.8%
AfD+BSW have 42.7%

Very very close race between establishment parties and "rebels".

Germany: Brandenburg election brings relief for ruling SPD

Far-right gains in east Germany could deal blow to economy

How the elections ended. In a sense this is Pyrrhic victory for mainstream. Since voters of other parties did the so called "tactical voting", so that far right doesn't come first. What cased some really bad numbers for parties other than SPD and even with that it was still very close. Due to this Greens got 0 seats, since their base went for SPD. Center right also has the worst ever results in the area. So when you add to this large gains for the anti system left the mainstream has morally/ideologically lost this battle. What happens next remains to be seen.
