I've oft wondered this myself as I have a very strong wing, but after a lot (read: obsessive amounts) of research and introspection I still believe I err on the feeling 4 side. Enter the opinions of those who know me well:
For the longest time I have felt that my very close 2w1 friend doubted my typing, but since she never said anything I ignored it. A couple weeks ago we were having tea and talking Enneagram and I mentioned something about "my strong 5 wing" and she ever so quietly said, "well, I have always thought you were a 5".
To which I responded, "I wish you would have told me! I don't care what type I am, I just want to know the truth of myself." So I proceeded to go back and comb through all of the 4 and 5 material over again. I relate to much of both, but at the end of the day I "mhmm" and bitterly chuckle more at the 4 section than the 5, not to mention feeling more disgust at the unhealthy side. I also lean more toward emotion than logic, though they are close. Even my MBTI results are usually very close between T and F, but F wins ever so slightly.
I've been conducting an Enneagram based photo project over the past few months that requires the participation of a male and female of each core type. This provided a great opportunity for me to talk with a 5w4, which I thought would help. I met with my 5's last week and overall did feel a lot of similarity between the 5w4 and myself, but ultimately that he was more cerebral than I am. One thing that stuck in my mind was the way he (and the 5w6 actually) described what he does when he can't find something. He just thinks back in his day, and is like "oh yeah, my favorite pen in under that sock on the second shelf on my bookcase, next to my spider man comics. Cool." and proceeds to go find it exactly there. Now, I have done that from time to time but it is not a regular occurrence. Usually what I do is flip out and go straight emotional frustration, flipping chairs and clearing everything out of my way until I find whatever I've misplaced. I yell too. He could just be a heavy T though...
ACK.

At the end of the day I have no idea, thoughts or perspectives are welcome. Feel free to check out previous posts I've made on the forum if you need context or evidence.
