I'm starting to think I may actually be a 3w4 (a 3 at any rate). I typed as a 9 some time ago when I first heard of and took an enneagram test, and I continued to type as such up to last month (results posted below). Then I started really trying to understand what enneagram was all about and I did not like the descriptions of 9's at all (and still don't if that is indeed what I am).
Problems with me being a 9 though are that I don't back down from a fight unless I'm wrong and definitely don't place harmony above all. In fact, I've been called abrasive, adversarial, stubborn, challenging, or some other similar term many times but usually by people on whose opinions I place exceptionally little value.
After reading various 3 descriptions, and figuring out that it isn't so much about fame and money but rather what the particular three in question holds as his ideal of success, I believe 3 to be a more fitting description and I'm now thinking that I was going to my stress 9 and expressing it as anger followed by apathy towards the system that was (and still is) extremely inefficient and often idiotic. Being that I dealt with this system for 6 years, or since I graduated high school until now, it makes sense that I might mistake these characteristics as my true self. This is something that from my understanding 3's do anyways.
Also the following quote is something I have most definitely done in my weakest moments: "When they've hit rock bottom on the pathological scale, Threes feel threatened by anyone or anything that reminds them of their failures. And when they feel angry or threatened, they often lash out at the person rejecting them." When I was in high school I did this with my dad after he got on to me about my performance during a game. And then again during college when he wouldn't stop telling me what a huge mistake I was making for switching my major from something I hated to something I actually enjoy learning about.
I hesitate to jump straight to saying I'm a 3 though since 9's are also apparently notorious for mistaking themselves for a whole slew of different types. So I'm curious what the thoughts of the forum are considering there is likely a better understanding among the members here of what all enneagram entails than what I have garnered from my bit of research. At any rate here are my most recent test results that showed 3 followed by most recent results that showed 9 (taken today, 19 Sept, and a month ago, 19 Aug, respectively):

Wing 5w6 - 8.7------------------Wing 7w6 - 5.4
Wing 2w1 - 8.2

Considering the results on the left are post reading a bunch of enneagram stuff it could be a form of self-reporting, confirmation bias.
