http://www.marcandangel.com/2011/03/14/365-thought-provoking-questions-to-ask-yourself-this-year/
Over the past year we have received countless requests to compile all the questions and place them on a single page that can be easily printed and reviewed. So here it is. A whole year’s worth of thought provoking questions to get your mind moving.
When was the last time you tried something new? Not to far off. I went to a show I never been too before in feburary. Went out this past weekend and saw some pretty cool artwork. Maybe that's not 'trying anything new' though lol.
Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?
My best friend. She's got her mom and her dad there for her supporting her then here's me. She's got a partner to go through life with... but here's me. But I think this is how it's suppose to be for my own personal situation. My situation is mine alone as is hers
. At the heart of it... I have the most wonderful people I'm blessed to know around me
. That have truly been a great help in these hard times
.
What’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever heard someone say? ??
What gets you excited about life? Living it. Being around good, solid and honest/loving people.
What life lesson did you learn the hard way? To let it go... I'm still trying to "let it go".
What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago? I honestly don't know... if it hits me I'll edit this and add it here.
Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know? I try to ask enough questions cause settling is personally when death begins not the physical but the spirit/spark of life starts fading.
Who do you love and what are you doing about it?...
What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree? heh... not really sure.
What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago? Maybe to start knowing who I really am and that I just might actually be able to say "I can"
Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength? Strength. You just got to let it out.
What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? I don't think I'd change anything. I'm doing what I need to do.
Do you celebrate the things you do have? I try my best but sometimes it's hard.
What is the difference between living and existing? Living is being conscious and self aware/being responsible for choices we can make and that we DO have control over. Not handing our power over. Existing? Well that's where you just go with the flow and letting stuff happen to you. You don't look deeper inside yourself. You don't learn your triggers of what makes you mad? Over why it makes you mad? Over how we have power to not let that what makes us mad have control. We have power. We need to wake up. That's what that means. It's those people who go to work, go to school without giving their life a good hard look and honest reflection into what is. So they just go from 9-5 doing their work/school work without really looking inside. They don't know who they are. They haven't accepted the hurt their lives have given them (via parents/life experiences/just past hurts). They avoid looking deeper by being "busy, steadfast to climb that social/career ladder. Numbing ourselves with food, television, senseless activity (drinking recklessly/smoking/partying/even following a routine where we feel safe/not really thinking about why were doing it (doing certain rituals) = unconscious. anything to block ourselves from facing where the gold mine to ourselves is. We are denying ourselves when we our unconscious.
If not now, then when? (don't get it lol)
Have you done anything lately worth remembering? I'll get to this later.
What does your joy look like today? Somewhat hopeful but there's so much mixed into it right now it's hard to see sometimes. But I feel I'm on way to getting myself back.
Is it possible to lie without saying a word? I think so...
.
If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend? Not long...
Which activities make you lose track of time?
Being around positive people. Just sitting with them, talking about life and it's implications. Working on ourselves together. Looking at the world together and seeking answers. Being conscious not just seeking answers that we "want" to see which I think is a form of unconsciousness.
If you had to teach something, what would you teach? To believe in yourself. Stand up. Don't give your power away to anyway. It's always been yours, only reason it wouldn't be yours is if you have it away.
What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life? Living on my own for some time to just be with myself truly. To know myself. I'm only now just starting to see a sliver of who I am really am not this superficial teenager/very younger adult 'this is me' kind of thing. More like a "I am... and I'm learning some really tough truths and I'm finally seeing where I am a seperate and whole person on my own. This is... me. I Know my triggers of what gets me mad, why it made me mad, where they were coming from where I was coming from. So on and so on. That I believe is the beginning of knowing yourself. Though I believe it never ends, the journey of knowing "Who we are".
Are you holding onto something that you need to let go of? Definitely... I'm currently working on it. I need to let go of the mother I never had to begin with. My new goal is to move out within six months for my sake. I can't pretend that it's any different anymore, only serving to slapped repeatedly over and over. I see her nice side... then I get smacked in the face as a reminder of who she really is. I need to leave. I wouldn't stay in an abusive relationship (emotional/physical etc) so I need to just do it. Somehow... someway.
When you are 80-years-old, what will matter to you the most? Living as much as I can. My neices, nephew. My memories. Hopefully great neices/nephews. Family. Maybe I'll have grandchildren and wonderful children who will know there mothers love (not self interested "love"). I won't do what my mother did to me. I would love them and protect them. I will make sure I'm ready to make a sacrifice of myself first. Wouldn't want them to ever feel like a burden (that's if I ever have kids... kind of up in the air at this ripe age of 23. Kind of young still xD).
When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards and just do what you know is right?
When you just know it is. Hard to define.
How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?... pfft obviously don't know lol.
Would you break the law to save a loved one?
... like oh my goodness your going to fall off that place you trespassed on so I got to go over there and save your hide. Okie doke. Could apply to other areas. But I'm sure it would vary lol.
What makes you smile? Family.
When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done? Hopefully I've done more then I've said. Working on it.
If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be? Open your eyes... realize what were doing to ourselves on an individual level. But that has to start from wanting to do so. But alot of why we suffer is cause were unconscious and unaware of our responsibility to our consequences. When we do something, we are creators of what we receive.
If the average human lifespan was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? I'd be moving out even faster... and not tolerating negative vibes/attitudes or anyone who tried to run my life or tell me how to live it even more. Still each there own mentality but I'd give them very clear signals that, that is not welcome in my life. I need to surround myself with like minded supportive people.
What do we all have in common besides our genes that makes us human? ???
If you could choose one book as a mandatory read for all high school students, which book would you choose? Just one? XD I'll come back...
Would you rather have less work or more work you actually enjoy doing? More work I'm actually enjoying
.
What is important enough to go to war over?
True peace not this "oil rampage" going on today.
Which is worse, failing or never trying? Never trying.
When was the last time you listened to the sound of your own breathing? I tried to sunday xD (meditate).
What’s something you know you do differently than most people? I'd say i'm just me, that's it.
