Hmmm...
I enjoyed Forrest Gump, but I thought it was a bit overkill. To me, it seemed like the creators sat down and said "Hey let's see how many references to pop culture and historical events over the last few decades that we can cram into a few hours." It just seemed very forced at times.
The shaky cam in the first Hunger Games movie was awful. I'm not sure if this is unpopular, but I have a few friends who really loved it. I hated that it took away the clarity. I wanted to see exactly what was happening. The only time it made sense was during the Tracker Jacker scene because those stings cause hallucinations and poor vision.
I perder classic, hand drawn animation over CGI. I actually don't really like CGI all that much, probably because I've seen a lot of bad CGI in my life.
I don't like Wall-E. I usually like Disney Pixar films, but not this one. My main complaints were with its pacing. Plus, it was just too slow and didn't really capture my interest. Plus, it sort of failed at its attempt of social satire. It just seemed condescending and whacked to me.
Also, films remade in different countries with different cultural contexts are usually terrible ideas. Every time I hear about one, I cringe. I'm not saying all of these fail, but the ones I've seen often miss the point and miss out on a lot of the cultural nuance you can learn from the original that just doesn't translate over well, both linguistically and culturally.
I also am not very harsh on the Twilight movies. Well, I haven't seen any of them in their entirety. But, they didn't have the best quality source material. I mean, sparky vampires? Come on, that's the dumbest thing I've ever read in a fantasy novel. No offense to the author. So, I cut everyone involved some slack.
I'm also not a very big fan of live action remakes of animated films. It just seems sort of pointless to me and signals that that the studio has run out of ideas.
