Temporarily align yourself with Trump and attach to his proposal, making it tougher for right-wing media to characterize you as a "radical leftist socialist" being that the idea was put to the forth largely by their Emperor. To attack Bernie now would also force them to also indirectly attack an idea Trump put forth. Also, by calling out the obstructionist agenda by Republican senators (mainly Mitch) for not at least bringing it to a vote.
