Has anyone found reports of out-of-state extremism - in either direction - that provide any evidence? I thought I'd read something about white supremacy being connected to arrested individuals through social media, but I can't find it now.

And it's just weird that reports vary from 13% to 80% arrested coming from out of state - shouldn't that one be relatively easy to nail down, or am I mistaken about assuming most of these people probably had a driver's license or some other form of ID (which lists residence) on them when they were arrested?

A few? Fuck protesters.

Right wing protesters: "We are going to the capital to protest and we are going to bring GUNS this time!"
Left wing protesters: "Hold my craft beer."

Bad apples.

When protests were peaceful, I saw people complaining about that and how they shouldn't block traffic or disrespect the flag. Maybe the inability of people to take the peaceful protests seriously is part of what led to this point.

"Protest peacefully! And do it quietly and out of sight so that nobody notices, because it's too upsetting to actually see." Nobody should be surprised that after decades of that, things finally blew up. It's not rocket science. Eventually people are going to react poorly to not being treated like human beings. I don't think the looting is a good thing, but I definitely understand why it's happening. Maybe now something will actually get done about it.

These are the articles that came through my newsfeed.

White supremacists, cartels add to George Floyd chaos: governor

I've later heard this one updated to 80%
Mayor Walks Back Statement Saying Every Person Arrested In Minneapolis Protests Was From Out Of State

Minnesota Officials Link Arrested Looters to White Supremacist Groups

There's more but these I could find easily.

Maybe stop trying to justify riots.

Maybe stop virtue signalling about how horrified you are about property destruction and start rationally analyzing the situation.

Treat peaceful protestors poorly, and it only makes sense that eventually they'd become more violent.

The guy on the left was peacefully protesting. If I remember correctly, that was unacceptable to quite a lot of people, and it had quite a negative impact on his career (although I'm sure he anticipated that).

Because I'm the one virtue signaling for being against riots.

Why isn't it virtue signalling? Because it's you?

The issue isn't that they aren't protesting peacefully It's that they're calling attention to the issue at all. Which is why people reacted as poorly to Colin Kaepernick. At a certain point, that means things will escalate. No need to get emotional about it.

Exactly. Americans have historically enjoyed the right to assemble and protest. Heck, our nation was born out of such actions. It is one of the few tools ordinary people have to make their voice heard in a timely manner, i.e. not waiting for the next election. I have read that in some locales, police were actually joining the protesters, and the entire protest remained peaceful. It isn't that hard. If you (whatever authorities or onlookers) want protesters to behave in a peaceful and respectful manner, it helps to treat them the same.

The protestors were being tear-gassed before the riots started, I believe. Part of the issue, as I understand, is that there is a code in many police departments where whistle-blowing at bad behavior has consequences.

Yeah, they didn't even have the decency to let K protest peacefully. Pence wasted a lot of taxpayer money staging an expensive, melodramatic reaction to K's kneeling protest in attempt to shut it down.

What issue are they even calling attention to here? The cop is in jail. Now what? Are we rioting until Father Gabriel shows up and somehow manages to exorcize the ghost of "systemic racism," on camera so everyone can finally see it and believe in it, then have Peter Venkman trap it in a ghost trap and lock it away forever? What's the goal here?

We have an incredibly fragile economy, just beginning to get back on its feet, with staggering national debt...and this is what you people choose to do with your time? Pointlessly flush another incalculable amount of financial damage down the toilet.

Five seconds ago you were raking right wing protestors who were actually being peaceful who actually had a very simple and concrete item to protest over the coals for not social distancing. I don't see a lot of social distancing in these riots. Is the virus gone now? Also- RIOTS. How double standard psychotic do you have to be to condone one and not the other?

And you wonder why everyone on the right thinks you're all nut jobs.

I did? Where? Can you find the post? I don't remember it?

Actually, I said that I don't like the fact that there are riots, but I understand why they are happening. The fact that you can't wrap your head around that is exactly what I mean when I mentioned right-wing emotionalism. You're incapable of looking at the situation objectively, probably because you're very scared.

But I blame the police (and the mayors of these cities for encouraging them or dragging their feet on reform) for not holding their own accountable and protecting them for misconduct unless called on it. if they actually did show signs in listening to the protestors when they were being peaceful, instead of gassing them and whining about how it was unfair because the job is hard, we probably wouldn't have riots. It's logic. They acted like they were above accountability and the law, and it turns out, that can have negative consequences.
And you wonder why everyone on the right thinks you're all nut jobs.

It's ok... I think they are nuts. I'm not particularly interested in earning the respect of people who admire a reality-tv show clown.

I'll take that as a no. I can't even imagine the mental and moral gymnastics required to condone the mass looting and destruction of public and private property in order to preserve the toxic bullshit narrative that all of this is somehow the fault of "racist america."

I say burn all the police stations to the ground. The people must take back their power from these diseased overlords.

I don't think the looting/destruction is a good thing, either, but this inhumanity where that is more upsetting to people than someone being killed makes me sick. Just what are people supposed to do? When it's the very people who are supposed to protect and serve who are killing, who are fanning the flames of violence, who refuse to listen? How are we supposed to get them to listen? The message seems to be sit down and shut up. Wouldn't it be great if we had leaders who actually cared about the people they represent? Who wanted to listen? Sit down with them and let them be heard? And work toward a peaceful solution? Instead we have someone who seems to revel in the possibility of violence, quotes racists, threatens people as if they aren't human.

I read yesterday that police were actually created in the first place to return slaves to their owners. I never knew that before. Did anyone else know that?

I'm not a fan of police. Has little to do with racial things to me, though. Actually, I'm a skinny white woman, & I once had a cop put me in a choke hold when I wasn't even being arrested. That's also not why I dislike cops however, but it does add to it. I don't like their attitudes or personalities. They have that "Do what I say because I said so! & Don't question me!" attitude that I just can't stand. Most don't even know their own laws well.

There's also way too many laws on the books in my opinion. Why are we wasting tax payer money to keep people in prison for nonviolent crimes?

Cops imo escalate problems instead of de escalating them a lot of times. You shouldn't be able to anger a cop. If they did their job how most people would expect them to then they should always keep their composure.

Has anyone thought that many this cop that everyone's talking about now is really just a sadistic psychopath? Who else would crush someone's neck for 9 minutes? The cop seemed pretty calm & enjoying himself to me too, & from what I could see the cop was never provoked to take the guy down like that to begin with.

I personally think we should abolish all police, FBI, & CIA. People themselves can help & protect each other. People give to charities out of their own kindness, right? People help each other in natural disasters, right?

With all this being said, I don't want anyone destroying businesses especially small businesses.
