The Truth about the MBTI, is that of all of the dichotomies used to distinguish between the types, there is only one that makes sense.

Surprisingly, it is actually not the one that you would expect, either.

Which one is it, and why?

Galatea and Mbti

The interesting thing about mbti is that it requires the suspension of disbelief.

And mbti is in good company for art and religion all require the suspension of disbelief.

And the suspension of disbelief is almost always a pleasant activity. There is no need to do any reality testing, and we find plenty of friends to share our pleasure with.

Young poets all want their love poems to come true, and almost all of us want mbti, not only to be true, but to help us in life in our job and our personal relations.

Mbti is so good we resent anyone who compares it to astrology.

Mbti is quite like the American Dream: no one dare criticise it, and no one dare to wake us up, for the whole American enterprise depends on our dreams.

Oh beautiful dreamer, I long for you to wake unto me, just as Galatea woke unto Pygmalion: Myth of Pygmalion and Galatea - Greeka.com

Oh Galatea you are so beautiful you must awake unto me: Bing Crosby - Beautiful Dreamer - YouTube

Previously I used to collect bits and pieces of good things from various sources such as religion and theories , but whether or not this is good in longer terms I am wondering. It is true, tho, we cannot be doing that forever.

Religion, art, and MBTI are all fine as long as people are willing to criticize it.

What do you think about that, Mole?

Science is fine as long as people are willing to criticize it.

The interesting problem of religion, art and mbti is that they all depend on entrancing us.

When we are entranced, our critical mind goes to sleep for a while, we suspend our disbelief, and our imagination takes over.

The difficulty comes when we seek to critique our imaginings.

I love the imagination but I am most excited by reality testing our imaginings.

Science does require imagination too. All great scientific discoveries were founded on an intuition, on imagination. That doesn't say it doesn't require logic, too.

As for the rest, I agree it does sort of depend on being "entranced". But this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The trick is to wake up from the trance willfully if it starts taking over.

Its interesting you mention being "entranced". Grudjieff said that most people spend their lvies "asleep". He beleived people were in a sort of hypnotic state naturally, and to wake up from this was the "Work".

We know how to wake from being entranced and it is called critical thinking.

But look around here. Most are entranced by mbti and incapable of critical thinking.

And almost everyone responds to critical thinking as though it is an attack on their ego.

Get back to me when you can free yourself from your subjective assumptions and free-associations.

The truth is, the MBTI is all dichotomies. Si/Ni, Se/Ne, Fi/Fe, Ti/Te. You can't escape them without leaving the MBTI altogether.

Doesn't the fact that mbti is a fraud spoil your fun?

I prefer socionics, anyways. I'm perfectly willing to admit socionics could be a fraud. It doesn't offend me.

But do you think that people respond defensively to your criticism of typological systems because they get the feeling you preach to them rather than take apart mbti itself? I think people are a bit harsh on you though...still you have to ask yourself if people take it to heart because they don't like to have their belief in mbti taken apart because they lack critical faculties or if you're involuntarily pressing the wrong buttons?

Nearly anything fun is a fraud.
Doesn't mean people shouldn't enjoy it in their free time.

It is common here to go along to get along by pressing the right buttons, and most of the buttons are cliches.

I don't press buttons and I know cliches have been in too many mouths.

Fraudulent fun is the kind of fun you are having when you are not having any fun.

It sounds as though free time is a distraction from the emotional pain of so much unfree time.

So you are entranced by the concept of ego still, I see.
