Does anyone know of any interesting movies I could watch on Netflix?

Movies I like if you think it will help you find recommendations

The Truman Show
Tangled
Zootopia
Divergent
The Hunger Games
(these are obviously not every movie I watched; just the ones I liked the best).

I recommend Interstellar, Her, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Nanny McPhee --- in that order. I assume you've seen Insurgent.

This thread should have more posts than this dammit.

Okay I recently watched Zootopia and loved it. Disney sure knows to make good movies that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.

The bunny makes me think of the red headed princes in Brave. It's not about family homour, femininity , romance etc. it's about what you want and going after it.

Loved it.

Edit - oooops. Completely missed the poin t of the thread. Sorry.

If you haven't seen Office Space, I'd highly recommend it. I also enjoyed The Gods Must be Crazy but that was a long time ago and I'm not sure if it'll hold up.

Office Space is absolutely amazing.

Gods Must Be Crazy 1 & 2 seem to hold up pretty well, though I last watched them a few years ago.

Memento and Fight Club are by far my favourite movies :happy2: (I like some others that you named but not so much). My favourite genre is the psychological thriller.

When I recommend movies I tend to be a little excessive with my lists, mostly because I've been watching about three movies a week for the last 4 years... and I'm indecisive. So here go my favourite favourites:

On the (psychological) thriller line I can recommend: Donnie Darko, Identity, The Conversation, Lost Highway (only if you are willing to rewatch it to understand the meaning of every single detail that doesn't make any sense at first), 12 Monkeys, 1408, A Clockwork Orange, A Beautiful Mind, Oldboy (Park's version), Headhunters, Law Abiding Citizen, The Shining, Rear Window, Psycho, The Birds (I'd also recommend The Game, but to me it has a big flaw at the end, and also Mindscape, which is not excellent but I like the idea of the movie and how the set is composed).

And from random genres: Mr. nobody, Amelie, The Illusionist, Amadeus, Inglorious Basterds (Christoph Waltz is a genius), Hugo, The Phantom of the Opera (if you're into musicals), The King's Speech, Good Bye Lenin!, Dead Poet's Society, Across the Universe (because I like The Beatles' covers), The Wave (a German movie), Coherence (it's kind of a low-budget movie, but it's interesting).

Those are the ones I could come up with... I have a document witht the list of movies I've seen, my comment and rating (completely addicted, I know.. I like the word "dedicated")

Oldboy (original) is amazing. The Hitchcock films hold their quality well. I first watched Clockwork Orange 30 years ago...then read the book. Interesting stuff. 12 Monkeys was a nice trip. I love The Game. Waltz is a genius.

Memento really not only has a great filmmaking concept, but an excellent look into identity, thought, and memory. Fight Club actually got to me to start thinking on the evils of consumerism and the emptiness of modern society. I really liked the book, too. Powerful films.

I love Ridley Scott's work. Blade Runner (with or without the Harrison Ford voice over) is a powerful film, but it is amazing crazy how different it feels between the original theatrical version and the director's cut. "I'd rather be a killer than a victim" is one of my all time favorite lines from movies.

Additional guilty pleasure film: Fifth Element.

I do not have a detailed list of films I have seen with ratings. I can say pretty well if I have seen a movie and if I liked it, but I don't go into any person listing.....it would be really long......

Smilephantomhive: First and foremost, if you have not completed Stranger Things, please please do.
Now, I have not yet had a clear idea of what exactly it is in a movie that sparks an interest in you. Therefore, I'd recommend a few thought-provoking gems on Netflix that less people know about. You may check the iMDB / Metacritics / Roger Ebert ratings of my recommendation to have a second opinion

TV SERIES:
Black Mirror (satire, sci-fi, drama), Happy Valley (crime, thriller, drama), Luther (crime, thriller, drama)

MOVIES:

Horror: Hush, Creep, You're Next, The Houses October Built, Starry Eyes, Honeymoon, Exam, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night

Thriller / Crime: Tell No One, Victoria (2015), Funny Games (German version, 1998)

Drama: Short Term 12, Detachment, Half Nelson, The Kite Runner, Mysterious Skin

Scifi Drama: The One I Love, TiMER, The Double, Upstream Color

Well I guess I have no shortage of movies to watch. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!
Arctic Hysteria I am still working my way through Stranger Things, and I love it! But yeah I'm slow when it comes to TV shows, but I think you can expect me to finish it by next week.

I am going to use my own thread for other people and tell you to go watch Kubo and the Two Strings. I think it's still in theaters, but it was amazing and better than the trailer suggests imo.

Probably the best comedy from the 90s that isn't a Sandler film. If you like comedies, you'll enjoy this; otherwise, skip it.

On Netflix:
(Dis)Honesty: The Truth About Lies (9/10)
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (10/10, a fucking classic)
Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead (7/10 due to repetitiveness. Don't watch the sequel.)
Food, Inc. (8/10)
Super High Me (9/10, somehow catches the same mood of the documentary it is parodying except the results of this experiment isn't super obvious from the getgo.)
Making A Murderer (10/10)
Freakonomics (10/10, the intro and outro are slow but then again the books are like that too)
Dear Mr.Watterson (9/10, must watch for anyone who was influenced even slightly by the Calvin & Hobbes comics)
Dope (9/10, features a super powerful message that really hits home with an 'oreo' like me)
It's Such a Beautiful Day (9/10, starts off fun but slowly becomes a depression based endurance test in a good way)
Ali G: Indahouse (7/10, not as good as Borat but Borat isn't on Netflix so this is good enough)
The Mask You Live In (8/10)
Best of Enemies (9/10)

Online for Free:
Soylent: How I Stopped Eating for 30 Days (10/10, combines my two favorite types of documentary: food and social)
Total Isolation (8/10, I wish this went more in depth with it's subject and the actual experiment itself)
Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price (9/10, I'm always a slut for economics.)

Most of these are either documentaries, aggressive comedies, films that make you feel weird after watching them, or all of the above. (I'm a big fan of psychological and food related shit. Please tag me if you recommend stuff might fall into these categories <3)

I assume you've seen The Crow; if you haven't, you'll enjoy it for sure.

As Good As It Gets is another great film with colorful characters.

Amadeus is a bit long but still very enjoyable.
