I don't know that it would even matter now. Wealthy people will continue to purchase state and federal legislatures to make loopholes that allow them to circumvent any tax law they don't like.

I would also support your idea if there were a bachelor tax implemented now.

I would prefer societies supported single people, including singles/divorced with children, leaving marriage as an optional extra (a plus not a must). But the prejudice against single people and in favor of (so-called traditional) families is strong.
