Mostly because of my job, my life has a parallel in the online environment. I have a presence in places like Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg--and the list goes on. MBTI is the only place I can come and talk or think or rant or rave and feel safe, too.
Being able to share things online is nice, but the problem with other online communities is that they're not communities for people. They're communities for photographers or journalists or musicians or computer geeks, but not for people. No person is only a job description or a hobby, and if a community fails to treat each member holistically, oppressing some facets of his or her person in favor of others, something will always be missing. Some topics will just not be "safe."
