I'm thinking about quitting my job. I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks, but now i think i might actually do it. I have a few problems with where i work.

My major problem is that the managers don't give a shit about anyone, and they don't even know anyone's name. I don't want to work at a place that is so impersonal. Every time i walk up to a CSM she grabs my badge so she can look at my name, and then plays it off like she knew it all along. When i go to pick up paychecks, they ask for my name. It's the same girl every time(and her name is Michelle). I work with her every day, and she still can't call me by my name? I'd rather stay at home and be a no one.

The rules they set are also pretty stupid. You have to ID people who are buying alcohol if they look under 40? I don't understand why this is necessary, so i only ID people who look under about 25, and it seems much more efficient that way. I've gotten in trouble multiple times for not IDing someone that looked about 35 to me. What is the point? Obviously they are old enough to buy alcohol.

I also don't understand why they even put prices on items, because every customer who comes through my line says that an object costs something totally different than what it rang up, and i have to give it to them for what they claim it costs. They might as well just let the customers make their own prices because its not much different right now.

i just hate working.

yeah i'm gonna quit. If not tonight, tomorrow night, or perhaps Monday. I'm mostly pissed off that they won't let me have another day off for my surgery recovery. I'm not supposed to lift anything over 10 pounds for the next 6 weeks, and the douche bags that pile all of their heavy items on the conveyor belt are going to give me trouble. When i pick up something heavy, it feels like my skin is ripping apart, because it probably is.

/end rant.

I'm not gonna be that doofus who says "Don't quit! Hang in there, you might grow to like it!" but from a practical standpoint, you might want to give them a 2 weeks notice, just so you're technically eligible to be rehired. But anyway, good vibes to you in whatever you decide. :)

thank you jeffster, i don't even think about practical things like 2 week notices, but i will try to give one and hang in there for 2 more weeks.

I just called in tonight, wasn't up to working.

Sadly, I don't think this is unusual for workplaces at all. Seems like I have always had dysfunctional/impersonal managers and crazy rules to follow at jobs. Just part of the whole lovely package. Then in office jobs there comes the addition of office politics.
