I am struck by the uncanny ability of the neurotic to drag you into their psychodrama.
The psychodrama is a displacement activity in touch with reality. So, for instance, the psychodrama is an unresolved conflict with parents that is projected onto strangers here.
The conflict with parents can't be resolved because you are emotionally and financially dependent on your parents, your parents have power over you, and this makes it impossible to speak to them equally, so the conflict is repressed and then displaced onto strangers here.
It is plain that when we make a personal attack on a stranger here, it is ridiculous, so this alerts us that we are neurotic.
And almost all of us are neurotic without insight. So we don't know what we are doing.
But making a personal attack on stranger here should alert us that something is going on.
Unfortunately because most neurotics lack insight, there is no good engaging with them, because they can do nothing else but drag you into their psychodrama.
So rather than be dragged into someone else's psychodrama, when a stranger insults you personally, it is best to put them on Ignore.
Unless of course we are also neurotic and wish to act out our own psychodrama with another neurotic.
