(Just got back from watching it).
But anyway, Anne Hathaway in the catsuit.
I felt the pace was a bit jumpy, partially due to the necessary evil (hah) of Bane's introduction and his backstory. Not that Bane isn't an excellent villain, it's just that by comparison, the prior movies successfully portrayed villains almost entirely through cogent storytelling. The way the characters were illustrated throughout the plot was excellent both aesthetically and in acting, but the delivery of the plot was diminished by the constant reminders that I was watching the end of a trilogy, not a movie unto itself. And not that I don't adore the Christ motif, but I don't need to see Batman walk after someone popping his spine back into place to know the guy's a damn miracle worker just being Batman. The other movies broke realism enough without begging for further explanation. Where the Joker added complexity to The Dark Knight with dark humor and instability, Anne Hathaway and Alfred slathered on the cheese during certain clips of The Dark Knight Rises. I found myself asking "Do I really need to feel this good watching Batman? I thought this movie could speak for itself without reminding be of Batman films from the 90's."
But anyway, Anne Hathaway in the catsuit.
