ITS SO COLD STILL HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?! Snow yesterday! REAL SNOW! I don't get it NC?! Stop clinging to your shitty past and get the fuck over it, it's spring time and you should be as happy about it as I am!

... *ahem*... In other news. Turkey burgers last night were pretty delicious, and now some quinoa salad to go with them will be just as yummy. I also got an entire box of frozen strawberries for $10.. So.. Now I have a case of pineapple, mango, and strawberry.. my three favorite fruits to drink. <3 <3! I have yet to put together individual packets, but they aren't going anywhere. Stocked up on cheap meat products (aka NC is awesome and has expensive meat products for literally nothing) and cleaned up the place a bit.

On to a quick work out! Seriously, traveling in the winters from now on.

Ugh, I have a shitty cold. Just had some Pho and some medicine to try and feel better. Still feel crappy but pho is delicious.

pho is the ultimate comfort food. At my old place we had the best little spot 5 minutes from my house, we'd go get each other soup whenever someone was sick.

I've never had pho. Sounds like I need to get some.

Looks like there's a good place nearby! What kind should I get? Thinking of getting this tonight actually.

Ivy I'd recommend something with eyeround, shank, and/or brisket. Not a huge fan of tripe, meatballs (at least this kind of meatballs), or tendon.

I like it all. My favorite is the rare beef and meat balls. The heat of the broth cooks the rare beef and you get an amazing flavor out of it. I usually add extra fresh jalapenos that I have at home and extra Sriracha. I have a troubling addiction to spicy food.

OMG. Unfortunately I found out my daughter already had a plan for dinner. But I'm taking solace in the fact that I have a daughter who likes to cook and I don't have to cook dinner myself. Pho tomorrow!

COOL
In the last 7 days Falcaius has ran 33 miles, cycled 19 miles, played badminton, and done two lots of 5 minute stair running sessions.

Do your squats, you don't even need to do a lot at once. Like, 2 or 3 intervals of 10 a day will do wonders.

Actually I make a habit of squatting to do chores when I can. It's one of those basic human moves that we're built to do a lot more of than we tend to do in modern life. And it's better than Kegals for the ol' pelvic floor.

Migraines tend to throw me off-course in completing day-to-day habits, which is much of the reason why regular habits are difficult for me to pull off.

In a situation where someone is irregularly debilitated -- they'd either need to make their day-to-day habits easier so that they can still be consistent with them every day, or they can keep them as they are and crank up the 'forgiveness' thing. The former is more objective but maybe too easy overall. (Oh man! All I have to do every day is eat and not curse around my child? I don't have to worry about organizing some space every day? I don't need to work on my articles? Cool!) The latter has subjectivity and flexibility in its goals, which could very well lead to slacking off. (Foot's asleep! Well, I sure can't take my walk today! *kicks back, sips Cognac* Probably tomorrow, though.)

This differs by individual and by situation, of course. But still. Has anyone else dealt with forced irregularities like this?

I had to clip my fucking nails for the first time ever in my life because they got too long... holy shit I never thought I'd see this day! :holy:

on the sad side I should probably join with things because I've got to take up running for the firefighter thing... after running a few times I have concluded that my years of smoking were definitely a very bad decision

Solidarity-running is... tiring. Today I went for the second time since autumn to run and I walked about 1mile of 2,6miles I wanted to run:doh:

Anyway it's getting warmer so since this week my plan is to run 2-3 times/week and swimming pool once a week:)

Last night I did a dance workout video in my basement. It was one I randomly found on Amazon streaming, and it turned out to be a "Christian" workout video. Ha! I'm an atheist, so that was funny. But it wasn't obnoxious - just dancing to hip hop music about God.

The other thing that happened during that workout was that I accidentally smacked the lightbulb (low ceiling) while doing a reaching move and broke it. Oops.

Also ate decently healthy yesterday. Today too, so far. Must also work out again today, but hopefully without breaking another lightbulb.

Moving to a new neighborhood in two and a half weeks!

Which means:
- Walking to and from work every day
- Adding 2 hours to my day (because my commute time is going from 1 hr each way to 10 minutes each way), which means more time to work out and more time to cook delicious things
- Easier access to yoga classes and free exercise meet-up groups

What it will mean for the future, when my office moves:
- Riding my bike to and from work, 30 mins each way (good active lifestyle change!)

FINAAALLLYYYYY done cleaning out my gmail inboxes! Omgggg that was a serious effort.. but totally worth it. And, since I've been keeping up with emails as they come along the way, the only messages are those still pending action and such.

Also, we cleaned out a bunch of brush and leaves and junk today in the back of the house. :) pretty awesome. Somehow I got to get myself motivated enough to crank out a work out....

Preeetty jealous. I really enjoyed walking to school.. I don't really live close enough to bike to work/anywhere anymore. Congrats on the move btw :) seems like it's what you've been aiming for for a minute now.

I learned something validating today: I'm not the only one who struggles with my bike! Apparently when I lent my bike to my roommate's fiancee, he also thought it was really difficult to ride! This means it's not just that I'm out of shape and suck at hills -- it's that my bike is really old and sad and not good for beginners! Makes sense, because even though I got it tuned up last summer, it's still a mid-1980s road bike that my friend got for free and then gave to me as a hand-me-down.

Now my plan is to sell it on Craigslist, then move, then shop for a new one.

Anyone have good commuter bike recommendations (the cheaper the better)? I would want a bike that I could ride to and from work, on medium-sized and relatively steep hills (not SF-level hills, but steepish), and on bike trails around the city.

Thanks! :) It's been a long time coming. I'm SO excited about it.
