Not ignorance. I am an expert in childhood biopsychosocial development actually, and attachment parenting methods and outcomes. I am an avid observer of human nature and am sensitive and interested in the effects of nature versus nurture upon individuals. Doctors may have their studies, but I know children. And I know children don't behave like that without some serious deprivations and depravations.

For the expert and avid observer in all of us, here is some interesting information on the difference between sociopathy and psychopathy:

"psychologist have identified two types of psychopathy in our society. Non criminal and criminal. However, psychopaths often get misunderstood with sociopaths. Psychopaths often have more mental control and are less likely to get caught doing any sort of wrong, while sociopaths are more impulsive and usually found within the prison system quite often. Non criminal psychopathy usually refers to an individual who lacks empathy and possesses sadistic qualities, while criminal psychopathy has the same characteristics as non criminal with more destructive intent. For example, murderers vs. emotional abusers."

I'm reviving this thread because I've been wondering a lot about Ted's type. I see him typed as INTJ quite often but the more I read about him, the more I don't see the introvert in him. In Stranger Beside Me he strikes me as ENFJ and same with a lot of his interviews. I can see ENTJ at times, but he's more expressive, more manipulative.

I'll go for ENFJ, just because F/T is no indication of morality. He's too expressive to be a Te-dom.

I mean. Can these people be accurately typed? They lack identity. Which is why they can be so manipulative and wear so many faces. They know enough to fake empathy and emotion. They know how it is supposed to look - what we look for in it. I think they spend a lot of their life "fitting in" more than fighting their urges.

I'm not sure they know who they are or why they do what they do except that what they feel and desire is of utmost precedence.

I think they are very empty inside and don't have the same capacity or spectrum for emotion we do. How to type that? Just my opinion.

It was unsubstantiated but believed that Bundy first killed as a child. As there was some unsolved murders around his neighborhood growing up.

Yeah, he lacked a conscience, most likely, and was obviously antisocial.

Some can not know their identity, shift among identities, but still have a conscience.

The existence or annihilation of conscience makes all the difference.

Which is why those with DID or DDNOS tend to be safe societally, because their inner conscience is protected. And why those who cannot dissociate are more dangerous.

Ted Bundy was literally crucified by the court system (American Justice) because they considered him too attractive to give life in prison. Of course he didn't help with his publicity stunts. Breaking out of prison probably didn't help him either. But it should have, imo.

I don't know a ton about serial killers, but I'm skeptical about all of them being INTx. I tried to read Devil in the White City once, and had to stop because the world felt too dark already at that particular time. I couldn't add another thing to the pile. But aren't some serial killers very extroverted, charming people, which suggests a type other than INTx?

talking about this makes me kind of sad, because i think bundy was kind of a sad sort of person. he was technically a genius but born to what i assume to be white trash-y like individuals, an origin which haunted him through his entire life. then in his early adulthood he fell in love with this asshole yuppie woman who literally hurt me to the core by literally breaking up with him by referencing his primordial fears-- shame involving his parentage. i think he became a mysogynist unconsciously but honestly i don't blame him that much because i'm pretty sure he had been sexually abused. when it obviously drove him to murder i think he saw the media publicity as a chance to "redeem" himself. he pretty much taught himself to become a lawyer and i think he thought that by dressing up and seeming nonchalant it would somehow help him but it ended up hurting him.
