I haven't really accomplished too much in the last two weeks, but I have been happy! Alright! A few days ago, I did put in massive amounts of effort to clean my apartment, and I think that made a big difference. It was absolutely terrible before, and now it's as clean as it's ever been. It took about 14 hours of work all together, and I still haven't organized everything yet. A clean home creates a better mood. No more negative chi everywhere.
I've also been getting more sleep lately and waking up early. My mind is more clear. I've been more enthusiastic at work. I called my friend in Wisconsin and we've made plans to have me go up there next week for a day or two for a mini-vacation. We'll go fishing, which used to be a big hobby for us back in the day. I haven't been fishing in years. I've been too busy not enjoying life.
I'm lacking a playable guitar right now, so I've been playing the ukulele more. I've actually learned a lot of new stuff on it without realizing it. It's pretty fun.
I'm still reading a lot, but not as rapidly as I was in the beginning.
I haven't done any of the bigger things that I want to do yet. Here's some things I want to work on.
-Get my car fixed. I've been afraid to drive long distances because I don't know what's going on with it. I've just been putting it off because I can't afford it, but I can't afford to put it off, either.
-Get my teeth cleaned and and whitened. I've wanted to get my teeth whitened for a long time. I've been smoking for 10 years and drinking dark soda for even longer than that. They aren't too bad, but I think a bright smile would boost my overall appearance and ability to brighten people's days. It may cost a few hundred bucks to get real results, but I need to figure out a way to afford it instead of putting it off because I can't afford it.
-Get a new phone. My current phone is broken in a lot of ways and it's very annoying. I'll be able to get a new phone for free and cheaper monthly bills if I switch my service provider and sign a new contract.
-Update my resume or re-write it and put it online and start taking baby steps towards finding a new job.
-Create a food budget. I don't waste much money, but I don't make much either, so I have to make it count. The one thing I don't spend money wisely on is food. I shop at convenience stores because they are close and at fast food places because I don't want to cook. I also buy things like beef jerky impulsively because it seems cheap, but it really adds up. I need to only shop at the big cheap stores and to figure out how much I can get by on and stick to the budget.
-Research what I'm going to make my new website about. After much experience with trial and error, I'm ready to attempt building a website for profit, taking all the necessary precautions this time. I just have no idea what I'll build a site about! It has to be researched properly ahead of time.
-A while back, I had two creditors send me bills, both of which I refuted. However, I'm not entirely sure they both gave up on me yet and I shouldn't wait to find out. I'll also need to call another company to take those things off of my credit report if they have actually been refuted properly.
-Buy a new car. I made the mistake of buying a cheap car last year and I've regretted it ever since. For 50$ or 100$ more per month, I could have gotten a much nicer car that I actually like and doesn't need constant repairs. It would have been a longer term commitment, but who cares? I'm about to make my last payment on the one I have now, so maybe I can sell it and use the money as a down payment. Selling a car is a pain in the ass, though. Trade in? A lot of my goals would be easier if I had a reliable and semi-new car. I'll make another blog post where I analyze all the things I actually need in a car.
-Join some kind of club or organization. I need to do something where I'm active and social again. Most of my friends have dispersed for various reasons, and I'm single now, so I'm all alone. Although I can handle it, I don't necessarily think it's conducive with "having the best summer of my life".
I think, when it comes to most of that stuff, I'm afraid of getting stuck with obligations. There's also a lot of things I want to do for fun, but I don't think those will be that hard.
