I agree that the currently released models are not conscious. I don't bar it from being a possibility by the number of neurons increasing to a certain level, along a particular architecture.
I was mainly pointing out the disingenuousness of the Digital God cultists; they want to keep pushing along these lines. If they believe what they claim is true, Gain-of-Function research looks downright prosaic in contrast. But they still pushed on this, with no empirical evidence to back their safety claims outside of interpretations of what all reinforcement learning researchers (and enthusiasts) know already, but in anthropomorphic ways. (i.e. that Reinforcement Learning "cheats." That's similar to saying that a golf ball "cheats" by not going where you want it to as a beginning golfer.)
Specifically, SB 1047 (and laws like it) are being propagandized strongly again. So many other laws were passed in AI that most people railing against SB 1047 said nothing about (and, in fact, supported). Their characterization of people opposing this law as people who will oppose any law is complete bullsh*t. There were at least 17 new bills in California in 2024
There are always token exceptions, but when you watch the propaganda that will flood the internet, I implore people to tally the color of the faces of the researchers on either side of their propaganda films. As I said before, their cult has Eugenics roots. Because they have been called out on it so much, they are intentionally starting to recruit more racial diversity.
The propaganda put out by the cultists denigrates, without proof, the likes of Fei-Fie Li, just for starting up a business, even though they themselves have vested financial interests.
In fact, the type of startup she made is precisely the type of AI that would remove financial incentive from their Digital God. It is illustrative how much the Digital God cult chooses her as the enemy. How does an entirely new branch(spatial intelligence) that requires more computing, even for early intelligence results, but is more useful directly, like navigating a spatial environment, push them closer to their hidden goal of building consciousness that only they control? It doesn't. That's why the cult puts compute limits in the laws they sponsor.

When you look at the propaganda and the laws they promote, realize that drawing the straight line that best fits a ton of points is also AI. The more points, the more computation. Realize that they are writing laws as if only the things the Digital God Cult is working on are AI, so that every other form of software is illegal to make.
