On feeling spaced out:

Is there anything inherently bad about that? Like is living in a reality that is not experienced by everyone else wrong?

I get the message sometimes, the whole "be here now" philosophy. And in some ways I believe it. It's good to not worry about the past or present, but to experience the reality of the moment. But what if I'm not worrying about the past or present? Is that still somehow missing out on life if I'm having a lot of rich, novel, and real experiences inside of me?

Basically every sentence in this post has been a question so far. Honestly, my instinct tells me it's okay. Especially asking these things to myself, since I do believe I am very much in touch with people and "real life" around me in a lot of ways. I love experiencing things on the outside, and couldn't survive without it. But I need a full range to work with. Not only is the physical world around me available to me, but so is the one that is inside me. Both are much vaster than I will probably ever know, but I intend to explore them both.

And if that makes me a space cadet sometimes, then that's fine by me.

If your going to be a space cadet I'm moving off this planet. Reality sucks, I wish there was another dimension where I could walk into my imagination. That would be awesome.

Our culture seems to think that it's a negative thing to live outside of its collective reality. But do the two realities (yours and culture) really exclude each other? It seems your reality can include culture's reality. Going with the scientific method of sticking with the theory which best encompasses the most, then your theory of reality is better. It's culture who is out of touch with the real reality. To put it bluntly, culture is delusional. Anyone who has studied abnormal psychology knows that you can't convince a delusional person of their disconnect with reality. Sometimes you have to co-exist with acceptance though.

I enjoy my richer life being out of touch with what culture see as reality. :)
