I saw this movie over the weekend. Silk was pretty good overall, your typical story about a man who thinks he can't get enough cake and then later realizes he made an ass pig of himself.

It was never made clear why he loved the girl in Japan. Maybe they do this on purpose so people will be compelled to read the book. I know I am.
I want to understand completely what the deal was.
I recommend it to anyone who likes period pieces. The setting is beautiful and the scope epic enough. Several sexy scenes.
