So are the cardies reptiles, mammals, or something else? Personally I like the idea of them coming from theropod-like ancestors. If they aren’t mammalian though, I wonder how they are even genetically close enough to Bajorans (and presumably other mammalian biped species) to be able to produce offspring.
They're mammalian reptiloids Rodenbarian genetics means everyone can fuck and breed everyone else. Don't over think it. Just appreciate that Gene shared his spank bank with the world.

I know it isn’t Trek but Starship Troopers (the film, anyway) feels like a dark reflection of Trek. It reminds me of the evil alternate reality society we see in Picard season 2.

And it’s a frigging awesome film too, perhaps my favorite Verhoeven movie. I think his satire is at its most biting ever here. And that amazing Poledouris score—he would have nailed it had he scored a Trek movie, say Voyage Home or Undiscovered Country, when he was at the height of his powers. RIP

It's the nicest Ive ever seen Michael Ironside be in my whole life. (I'm including season 3 of Seaquest also, he was nicer in SST)
