extroverted friend:
My EXFJ friend was in town from 12:30-10-ish yesterday. It was not stressful or exhausting. I did doze off on the couch while she was playing on the computer, but that wasn't her fault, I was just sleepy. But we did a little running around and we spent some time hanging out at my house and it was just a nice time.
Last time we got together, I did try to tell her I had to be careful with my energy levels because I get worn out pretty easy and I think it just took awhile for it to sink in because it's such a totally foreign concept to her, because she's not like that at all. I feel really positive about things and I feel loved because she thought about what I said. She even mentioned how glad she was that I know my limitations and that I told her about them.
Beep is a good friend.
garden:
I rented a tiller from my brother's father-in-law's shop, but it wasn't macho enough to get through the established grass in our yard. Our neighbor saw us wrestling the thing and offered to use his tiller. I gratefully said yes. He made a 12x12 plot for us. He suggested we put some peat and fertilizer on it (which we did) and said he'd till it again tomorrow to make sure it was good and to blend in the stuff. He gave us some gardening tips specific to our area. This is great because even though I was raised here, what gardening I've done has been in North Dakota and Kansas, so it's not the same.
storm door:
While we were at Menard's picking up gardening stuff I grabbed a store circular and noticed they had $15 screen doors. That seemed like a pretty sweet deal, so we got one. We had to get some sealer and hardware for it, but it still wasn't all that much. Don and I put it up this evening and even though it isn't going to make it on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, I'm pleased. We have a big shade tree in front of our house and now we will be able to take advantage of that free cool air indoors.
birthday:
Yesterday was Raven's 15th birthday. She likes her purple Shuffle.
We are still trying to figure out when to do a birthday dinner. We want to invite my step-dad, D, and my brother N because he and Raven are only 18 mos apart and they have always been close. It's hard to shake N loose, especially this time of year. My nephew's birthday is tomorrow and next Sunday is Mother's Day. *sigh*
Anyway, Don suggested that we start a new family birthday tradition: in addition to the family birthday thing, he and I take the birthday child out for their birthday with no other kids. Raven loves anime so Don suggested we take her to one of the Japanese restaurants in town. I wasn't sure because Raven is not particularly open to new food experiences, but she said it sounded okay. I think we are going to kidnap her from school tomorrow afternoon before the other kids get out of school and take her out.
mush:
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when Don thinks of nice things to do for the kids.
He comes up with some pretty great ideas.
Our 16th anniversary is on Friday. I don't know what we will do. I don't really feel like we need to do anything. It's silly, but I enjoy doing stuff like we did today or going to Taco Bell or just sitting in the tub talking politics. We get to go out by ourselves pretty often now so I feel content. We still like each other. We still turn each other on. That's a pretty good anniversary present right there.
This guy, he has a great brain, he's got integrity, he's funny, he's got a butt I just wanna slap, he's strong, he's sweet, the smell of him makes my heart beat faster and my cheeks warm. He's not demanding, he never yells, he tells me I'm pretty and makes me feel like the only girl in the room. It's like someone did something really good and God accidentally sent their reward to me; I don't deserve it, but no way am I sending it back.
