In England our local shops sell Pornographic magazines on the same rack as Childrens.
The reasoning that this sort of action is permissable bases itself around the notion that
Pornography with a few exceptions is placed on the top shelf so Children are safe from the
imagery. This is a ludicrous notion as Children are generally full of curiosity and certainly
do have sufficient neck musles to tilt upwards their heads.I have been into local shops
to try to reason with the shop keepers but they can become quite aggresive when you
challenge greed with moral reason.I am a father myself and have friends with children so
this is big issue to me.
I am personally in favour of all Pornography residing within the realms of Adult shops
but a compromise would be to seperate an area of the shop and make it eighteen plus entry.

I think porn ought to be covered up with those black plastic things just for the customer's comfort. Like once when I was about 21 I went into a drugstore where the porn was just out there at the checkout, and there was this dude standing there and he's like looking at the porn and then looking at me and grinning at me with this icky leer. Well, no one really wants to deal with that sort of thing at 8 AM, do they?

That is an ok idea but how would you browse to find what you wanted? then you would have to put it back in the envelope etc which would eventually become tatty.Plus children would then just become interested in whats in the black bags.

What I have seen is they just have this black plastic piece that sits in front of the cover and allows the title to show. The shelves are up high. That's enough. People shouldn't be letting their children mess with displays anyway. What about the candy shelve, it's on a child's level and yet children have to learn not to touch it or nick it.

I have never seen it be an issue. People look at the magazines and put them back behind the plastic. People have more prudence than they are given credit for.

I don't think most guys really want to stand in line staring at porn while standing next to a woman who reminds him of his Nana either.

I don't really think it's an issue that children are "interested" in what's behind the plastic. Childern wonder about a lot of things in life. Guns, liquior, crime, etc. It's really up to parents to attend to their sexual education at age appropriate levels and to influence how they see sex.

How does hardcore pornography & candy interlink?

No it isnt enough.

Its not about Nana & men feeling uncomfortable its about children.
Whilst every generation degenerates you sit back claiming people have more prudence than they are given credit for. We can all fall into the abysis whilst you shout out optimistic comments.

I do not want to teach my children sexual eduction till the onset of puberty its called allowing your children to be children.

The same applies to liquor you have pre-empted my removal of alcohol to an adult section piece.

Guns shouldn't exist apart from in the armed & police forces.

What has stealing got to do with anything?

How does sexual education & hardcore pornography relate in the context of the topic i put forward?

What exactly apart from saying you think the status quo on this topic is fine are you saying at all?

Its actually up to the goverment to ensure that depravity for greed does not exist in society.

Basically it's about moral ideals i am rather pertubed that with the insignia you carry you are happy to settle with such a poor compromise. Children have the right to in no way be subliminally corrupted by adult sexual needs or greeds....Full stop.

Thankyou for you views.

I do agree, these magazines ought not to be in the same areas as children's reading materials. But I don't agree they need to be restricted to special shops or anything.

I grew up going into 7-eleven stores. if my mother told me I shouldn't touch the sleves, I didn't. I knew there were covered adult magazines behind the shelves in these stores, I was told those were for adults, I knew they were sexual in nature but truthfully I was more interested in getting home before Batman and Lost in Space came on TV than worrying about sex and adults and illict magazines. My parents told me where babies come from and that was enough to satisfy my curiosity at that age.

TV and popular music and the average adult conversation are far more graphic than covered magazines on the top shelf at a store.

i visited a local shop and level upon level was covered with uncovered pornographic material.the conversation ended with the shop owner informing me he had a baseball bat under the counter. on the plus side at least when we next meet i will know he is armed and the location.i wish to say i was in no way confrontational in a physical manner.

our local adult shop did not generate enough money to stay open so maybe in the interest of the local shop it can be argued that it should just reside in these realms.i would have to travel to another town to purchase a dildo etc.the poulation of our town is sixty thousand plus.

i fully agree with you heart that adult conversations are far to graphic in front of younger children these days. i am sorry if my earlier reply was pedantic. i am very passionate about this issue.you are right in saying that television does nothing but encourage this.

although i feel we went off topic sometimes i would like to thank you for your views on this important subject. It's good to know some people still care enough to discuss it
