Democrats in Texas every election cycle:

"You know, Texas really isn't that red, it's just gerrymandering/voter suppression/whatever cope excuse"
"Based off the data trends, Texas could go blue this year.... *proceeds to link various graphs and charts*"
"The polls are close, just encourage everyone you know to turn out this year and we've got this!"

He was talked about a lot more back in the late 90's and the 2000's when he was Gov of Florida, and his brother was President.
Then there was that brief campaign for Pres in 2016 that went literally nowhere.

I remember being really horrified at the prospect of Jeb Bush becoming President, lol. I'd happily trade now, I confess.

This was Jeb's last golden goose before Donald Trump jettisoned him off into the ether in the 2016 Republican primaries.

The meme was pretty bang on until the 2020 box. Lost me a bit after that. People are hoping for a return of Jeb Bush in 2028 as a force for good?

Maybe that reference just for fun as a lead into the JEBI punch line at the last. And shouldn't it be Biden in 2020 instead of Bernie? Or this some sort of subtle reference to Warren stabbing Sanders in the back by supporting ol' sleepy in the 2020 primaries? Sanders has never went away nor ever returned from where he has always been.

I wa intrigued when he ran in 2016. I was already aware of him. He did much better than I thought. I didn't get involved with the campaign. I saved that for 2020.

With 2020, it's almost like someone was making phone calls encouraging everyone to drop out except Sanders, Warren and Biden, making the math unfavorable to Bernie. It was fun seeing news anchors flip out and lose their jobs for a while, though

2024 was the Rise of Skywalker of presidential elections.

Did Obama ever end up endorsing Harris? I know many people still love the guy, but some of his decisions are so frustrating to me.

I thought he endorsed her at the end of July.
But I can understand if people are confused on the issue (which I think is what you are alluding to).
He takes such a stand-offish approach to a lot of things.

Honestly, after the last 8 years, I could live with Jeb versus the insanity that King Donald has on the horizon for us.

Sadly, Trump winning the last election, in resounding fashion, has cemented Trumpism as the new status quo on the Right, and much like the Reagan Revolution of the 80s birthed the third way New Democrats, it seems the Democrats are once again trying to follow them rightward.

Sometimes I wish Romney had won in 2012 (or for that matter, McCain in 2008). I preferred Obama but it would have staved off Trumpism arriving in 2016 and Romney is probably one of the last of the true moderate Republicans so at worst we would’ve gotten more of the status quo of the 2010s; His first term would probably look a lot like Obama’s second term. Democrats would sweep congress in the 2014 midterms. The worst aspects of the left’s wokism would be blunted, putting them in a much better position to win in 2016; I think having a venture capitalist like Romney in power would better galvanize support for a true labor friendly democratic candidate in 2016. Trump would hopefully not show up as a 2020 candidate in this potential timeline. I think he’d still be trying to be a TV star by that point.

Also one area I think Romney was stronger than Obama was on his stance toward Russia.

Russia hadnt morphed into something that US conservatives love more than their own country at that point.

I dont know if it hadnt if the US would have elected some other variation on the Manchurian Candidate they have now.

I rolled my eyes too with the way he talked about Russia, but I'm forced to admit he was right.

Trump didn't get the electoral landslide Reagan did, though. But yes, I can imagine the lesson the Democratic party will take from his victory.

But remember. This time we're respecting "The will of the people." Not like in 2020 when the will of the people was definitely just cheating. But not THIS time though.

Last time it was cheating.
This time it's democracy.

And if there's one thing we know...
