And just took another totally new one, which I highly recommend as you can't really predict the outcome- and got INTX.

But just barely T.
I 18 E 11
S 12 N 16
T 10 F 9
J 10 P 10

So more accurately INXX.

It may be new, but it doesn't satisfy my "personal criteria" for an mbti test. What they need to do is test for all 16 personality types in the system, not for the individual letters. The "one question mbti personality test" is along the lines of what I'm requiring. My ISFP(?) wife took that and scored ISTP/ESFP, which she said she preferred equally.

Interesting. I agree testing for all types would be helpful.

I don't think a one question test is at all accurate. People prefer some things sometimes and others at other times. What might be better would be to list them in order, then average out the letters/functions somehow. What I always want to do is go hiking (even though I don't always do it), so by that test I should be ISTP. And not only do I not fit the description, I doubt anyone on here would agree. Also I don't think all ENFP's would like to play charades.

1- head into the country (mountains in my case)- ISTP
2- discuss the way things work in the world- ENTP
3- contemplate your perfect home- INTJ
4- go dancing- ESFP
5- have a conversation with a friend- INFP
6- imagine how the world could be improved- INFJ
7- participate in an art class- ISFP
8- play chess- INTP
9- be president of a club- ENTJ
10- help a friend move- ISFJ
11- quietly speculate on practical ideas- ISTJ
12- organize a party- ESFJ
13- make a tour of houses- ESTJ
14- play charades- ENFP
15- play poker- ESTP
16- organize a class reunion- ENFJ

More introverted things are at the top, more perceiving, so I--P by this method? No other particular pattern. Except that my top 3 were thinking, so INTP is still a pretty good fit, even if everyone disagrees. Pretty much every single test I take points to it in a roundabout sort of way.

We don't know how accurate a one-question is. For example, if you don't know your type, and you take the one-question test, how do we verify the answer you got against your unknown type?

But let's say that we tossed in 11 other similar questions and made it a 12-question test. Would it then be accurate given that you don't know your type?

In my wife's case, her score might deviate a bit from the tie between two types. But I gave her the Oldham personality type questionnaire 7 years ago, which is a much longer test, and she scored evenly on Adventurous and Devoted.

Remember the question about taking a drive out to the country? That correlates well with the Adventurous type, and my wife scored high on both.

You're missing the point of the one-question questionnaire. I don't like to play chess, but that's the INTP question.

What's the point then? And yeah I'm not 100% certain of my type, and I probably never will be, but if the vast majority of tests I take give me a similar trend of results, that points to something which is likely somewhat accurate. Wouldn't you say?

I'm saying that the ISTP answer does not mean "I like to go hiking."

Oh, was this taking the test I listed in the entry? I guess being a clear type makes things easy for you.
