I'm pretty sure I just found a big cluster of oyster mushrooms in a yard in the Fort. We'll see what the spore print looks like. If so, I'm going to go back and collect a bunch of them, and cook and freeze them. Yummy! :) I'm very excited. Luckily I had my handy little Radical Mycology booklet for identification.

Update: The spore print was white; so that rules out all the poisonous look alikes, except for a disagreeable (though technically edible) type which tastes bitter and acrid. I cooked it, and it was delicious; so it's definitely the real thing, or a very close edible relative. Yay, mushroom hunting in the morning!
