SX4s don't think of beauty in terms of classically "nice" things, instead finding it in the rawness of life--even in suffering.

Might explain why I rarely identify with what is commonly known as beautiful/sexual. That whole description is pretty accurate though. I feel like I bounce back and forth between wanting a quiet life and missing the excitement (even though I know it could be harmful. I don't think being a Sensor helps this much.)

Poor Icazo. Naranjo didn't name it appetite. Icazo did. Be it Naranjo or Riso and Hudson they just changed the names but it is still Icazo like Icazo named sp 6 Affection. Naranjo changed it to Warmth.
It is a big manipulation on Naranjo and other teachers part that enneagram of personalities is around millions of years and Icazo was taught by his teacher. Enneagram is there but not enneagram of personalities. It is all his hardwork except for wings which is Riso and Hudson.

Russ Hudson is late to the game. Ocean Moonshine Enneagram published descriptions for each type stack almost two decades ago. He knows about them and only in 2021 is he starting with just descriptions for type and instinctual variant. Hudson has got to point out the major flaws with Ocean Moonshine's type stack descriptions if he wants to justify his regression back to the 90s. I don't use Trifix or Tritype but I have pointed out the major flaws in those ideas. I don't pretend like they have never been introduced.

Here are four problems with Hudson's descriptions, as follows:

One, Hudson doesn't control for other typologies....any top notch researcher will tell you the importance of controlling for other variables that could be affecting outcomes. Here, Hudson operates entirely out of a one typology perspective. For example, the mainstream enneagram stuck inside of its non-diverse one typology perspective views type four as a reaction formation to the loss of essential depth....the pretence of depth....depth of vision...an ego fortified around the notion of depth. But socionists know that gets right into Ni Fe....IEI's ego block. So if you are typing or writing descriptions in regards to type four, IEI-Ni and IEI-Fe absolutely needs to be controlled for or you end up with a plethora of IEI 9s, 6s and 1s either mistyping or being mistyped as fours. Hudson doesnt' control for other typologies, but relies exclusively on a one typology perspective. The method is ancient.

Two, Hudson divides each type up by three different centers of intelligence: image types, fear types and gut types. In spite of that, R & H posits that each type is a reactive formation to a core fear. That would make each type a fear type, so according to R & H’s own theory, gut types and image types still boil down to being fear types. This doesn't make any sense. Types result from core distortions and follow their core distortion to a logical end. The core distortion is expressed through a stable of fixed traits -- which is expressed through the principle of unity (i.e. a core gestalt....see my primer for each type....katherine chernick later advanced my method of typing through gestalt -- the principle of unity -- on a blog).

Third, Hudson hasn't presented a comprehensive breakdown for each type, wing, and stack through at least 2000 exemplars and relies moreso on his own interpersonal and personal qualities to rubber stamp the quality of his descriptions. Descriptions are only as good as the type, wing, stack breakdowns the descriptions are based on, so if he presented such a breakdown, that doesn't necesarrily win him the day but it at least gets his foot in the door.

Four, call him the TikTok Guru, Hudson is a business-man. Don Riso was the spiritualist who put the work and quality of ideas above profit. When Don Riso passed away, not too long after, Russ Hudson wiped out the enneagram institute discussion board ("the eidb"). He just wiped it right out....over a decade of ideas in the marketplace wiped right off the map because of Hudson's business calculations. A lot of people on the board didn't push R & H. As soon as he had the chance, he wiped the board right out, because it was bad for business. Stackemup Typology (enneagram-side), Ocean's Moonshine, David Kelly (aka "Ptypes"), Typewatch all had a piece of that board. Hudson never wanted to compete in that marketplace, and frankly I don't think he could. I don't think he's got it. He wiped the board right out instead....real beauty.

I would also note that R & H loyalists claims that instinctual stackings were first talked about at a lecture at an R & H Conference. That's inaccurate. The forum members on 9types.com and enneagram institute discussion board created and fleshed out instinctual stackings. That ultimately progressed into the descriptions at Ocean Moonshine. The notion of instinctual stackings only trickled up to Hudson through connections he had with the old R & H enneagram board...through some younger forum members that he cultivated into R & H pupils.
