Graphic Novels you say?!

We got a kind of stupid assignment today. We have to do a character sketch on a character from a graphic novel, A.K.A manga. I didn't even know that my teachers knew what manga was, so I was pretty surprised. I was even more surprised when I saw the cover of Gantz Vol. 1 on our assignment sheet. Gantz is a pretty darn violent manga and anime, and my teacher said that we are allowed to pick a graphic novel with violence and nudity in it, but she wanted us to keep it clean for the most part. We were made to go to the library and pick out a manga too. Our library's manga collection isn't that great, they've got stuff like Ruronin Kenshin and Naruto, Bleach and Case Closed, etc. I picked NANA. I'm just glad they actually have stuff by Ai Yawaza there. So I was pretty happy with the assignment. But the losers in my class didn't even know what manga was/is, so they dissed every single volume, saying it was 'gay' or it 'sucks ass'. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Hell, they don't even read books. In the end, most of the girls picked Peach Girl and the guys picked Naruto. Oddly enough, none of them picked Fruits Basket or Hot Gimmick. Weird.

And now I have to write about Nana Kommatsu's crazy love life. Just great. Even Nana Osaki's story is cooler.
