I have had some health issues for years. I think that it has to do with leaky gut, tired adrenals, liver overload, thyroid and lymphatic drainage and has resulted in several autoimmune conditions.
Before going on thyroid meds, would like to see what I can do with diet, exercise and anything else to affect the numbers and how I feel as thyroid meds are not a magic bullet, don't deal with the root cause, and have side effects like osteoporosis and hair loss.
I have friends who rave about essential oils and I I also have seen them avoid both anti depressants and antibiotics by using them. I am still skeptical, but think it stands to reason that different plants have useful properties. I also feel that a lot of western medicines serve as a bandaid but don't address what started the problem. I've kind of exhausted the help I can get from our medical system. However, I do worry thst the higher quality oils are a bit of a scan price wise and this is a bit of a fad.
Does anyone have experience with this? What is your opinion?
I'm sorry you're dealing with health issues.
I do not know how to handle thyroid issues, but I dealt with vertigo as well as leaky gut for a few years with no help from doctors as well as a specialist for allergies.
What I found to help with me as well as a series of health issues is apple cider vinegar. Google it if you have time.
Also a complex vitamin with magneisum, zinc, d3, and calcium helped me a great deal in the last year. I believe this vitamin combo is what fixed my leaky gut issue.
Also a change in diet could help. I've stopped eating wheat for almost a year now. I say that loosely because here and there I will eat bread, pizza, etc, but when I do I grow sick with tiredness, fatigue, muscle aches. I don't think I've got celiac, I just think I've become gluten intolerant like a ton of people are these days.
I also stopped drinking milk because at one time I thought the leaky gut was from dairy as well as my severe allergy problems.
Oils do help though. I've used peppermint to help with vertigo and sinus conditions, but I also have a cousin who had a thyroid issue and she grew very very sick until she got medication so don't wait too long, but do try other natural things.
I understand when someone wants to go natural. At one point in my life I was told I had a hormonal imbalance and for a female that brings on all sorts of menopausal issures. What I did above as well as yoga and exercise, I was able to control it but sometimes I do fall off the map because of stress or because I felt like eating something I shouldn't have
Thing with wheat is once I grt a taste my body craves it and sometimes I can't fight those cravings.
Seriously look into apple cider vinegar. The Braggs brand. It has the "mother" in it. It has helped with so many things I had going on and it detoxifies the liver so it is very good for people. The only ones that should be careful are those taking any sort of blood pressure medication as it lowers or stablizes someone's blood pressure.
I'm not sure where you live but there is a webite online that sells oils in bulk for cheap prices. They work very well. I was refered to it by a friend. If you're interested I can give you the link here or in pm.
