I remember my prefixes and suffixes and not what's in between. They're bookends. Today I present In and En accompanied by Rage and The Project FD&C.
I wonder if you can be in raged like being in love. Not enraged, but in raged. Being enraged comes later. Enraptured and enraged. Wrapped in rage. Enveloped enrage. Incensed, incited, engulfed, enfolded in flames, inflamed, infuriated.
Perhaps rage can be worn like a cloak, not a coat because a cloak also hides and conceals whereas a coat protects from the elements. The elements need protection from you and a cloak contains that.
You can also be The Rage so your cloak meant to serve and protect also becomes fashionable. Then everyone wants to be In Rage and Enraged. Because it's the thing to do and the thing to be. The fervor becomes a fever that everyone catches. But it's not the flu so it's come and gone within a week. The Rage is contained like any good infectious disease. Quarantined with outbreaks in small, isolated pockets. You can't catch it any more. No more fire in the belly. Vaccinations are in development.
The cloak is now a coat, mere protection from the elements. In form and in shape but not in spirit and truth. Because everyone conceals the same thing, there is really nothing to conceal is there? Or maybe we think we all conceal the same thing but we don't. The suckered have been succored. The fervored fever is now a flavor and flavors are packaged and sold having lost their savor. Their Savior.
Enter Allura Red, Brilliant Blue, Fast Green, and Tartrazine. They want to put some color back in your life.
They're primary, maybe even elemental. Elementary. Basic, rudimentary.
Their power lie in their ubiquity. I was asked how am I supposed to breath with no air. They're going to show you how to light a fire. Cause fire needs air to survive. To thrive. Dust the cloak off and put on your blue suede shoes. Because even though FD&C hide in plain sight, they still need to be concealed. Their brilliance is blinding and no one can stare into the sun. A blaze. Like being in love. En/in raged.
