So, In recent years I have become a big fan of winter squash, those big strange looking gourds that we all know are related to pumpkins, but probably seldom think to eat. It's great stuff, I love squash! So this year, I got to thinking: well gee, it's fall, and those big giant gourds called pumpkins that are always on sale might actually be useful for something more than jackolanturns. So, I did some searching, and apparently you don't really want to eat the decorative pumpkins because they lack flavor and have a smaller amount of watery flesh. Supposedly you want to get the "pie pumpkins". So today I finally found a store selling one of these rather elusive types of pumpkin at $1/lb. I guess that's not too bad of a price compared to a usual winter squash. I'm looking forward to eating pumpkin for the first time
. Does anyone have any cooking suggestions for pumpkin, recipes and such? I think I'm just gonna bake it in the oven, puree it with some seasonings, and eat it that way.
