My puppy Lucy threw up this morning.
Thing is, yesterday she was caught eating some baby rabbits. [I was called on to throw away the two bodies that we found on the back porch.
] I had asked Mom a number of times if Lucy would get sick from that, and she kept reassuring me that that wouldn't be the case. And lo, today the puppy got sick.
As much as I love my parents and try to respect them as much as I can, there is one thing that irks me: they almost always dismiss health concerns that later on become a huge problem.
For example, in January of last year I underwent surgery for a large cyst that was about 7 inches deep into my backside. The week beforehand, I had experienced a great deal of discomfort whenever I would sit down. Mom and Dad had thought that it was simply a swollen bruise, so Mom would apply some ointments on the area. It was only on one night when the "bruise" swelled even greater and became discolored, that we all discovered it was an abscess. I was taken to the ER immediately, where the abscess was successfully drained, and two days later I had the surgery. [Needless to say, I still have the scar to show for it - and I'd rather that no one sees it, except for my family and whoever I end up marrying later in life.]
Lesson #8: If you or someone you care about is experiencing health symptoms outside the ordinary, please check it out with a doctor/health professional right away.
