To be fair, the actual Step II results report facets on a normalized scale of +30 to -30, effectively. So regardless of the number of items used to calculate the result, they are all normalized to a range.
So if E is minus and I is plus...
Then this:
Initiating: 1 ................ Receiving: 4
Expressive: 2 .............. Contained: 3
Gregarious: 2 .............. Intimate: 3
Active: 1 ....................Reflective: 4
Enthusiastic: 1 .............Quiet: 4
Translates into this:
Initiating/Receiving: 18
Expressive/Contained: 6
Gregarious/Intimate: 6
Active/Reflective: 18
Enthusiastic/Quiet: 18
While this:
Initiating: 4 ................ Receiving: 1
Expressive: 5 .............. Contained: 0
Gregarious: 3 .............. Intimate: 2
Active: 5 ....................Reflective: 0
Enthusiastic: 4 .............Quiet: 1
Translates into this:
Initiating/Receiving: -18
Expressive/Contained: -30
Gregarious/Intimate: -6
Active/Reflective: -30
Enthusiastic/Quiet: -18
All we are loosing here is resolution/accuracy.
Out of the 28 people who answered, only 5 didn't add up to a total of 5, and at least one of those on principle. I am curious about the rest of the algorithm.
