Sorry for it being in graphic form, just thought it was interesting... I kind of already was aware of this, I just hadn't read it explained so clearly.

Accompanying comments noted how people have seen modern cars crushed in tractor-trailer incidents on the highway, yet they were able to safely cut the driver out afterwards with minor injuries. The only complaint I noticed is that modern cars might not be as forgiving regarding pedestrians, but I'm not convinced older cars really gave a shit about pedestrians either...

All the cars today are designed with crumple zones...in older cars occupants absorbed the brunt of impact

There was a wrong way accident near me about a month ago. SUV going the wrong way on a freeway entrance ramp (crossed grass median) hit a Tesla. Tesla burned to the ground in minutes but the EMS was able to get the driver out. Driver and passenger in the SUV were DOA. You would not have thought that outcome was possible at first glance.

This changed my mind about Kia's being a deathtrap. The driver and passengers. A ok apart from a sudden onset of fear or flying.​
