It seems like the Chapo Traphouse folks may be right about the rest of the GOP not willing to go to bat for him on this. They already got what they wanted with the judiciary, after all. Also why would they want to get stuck holding the bag of the pandemic and the likely coming recession? Also... if it was truly deadlocked atnd he refused to leave office, I think they are right that the military, the tiebreaker there, would not side with Trump (I believe in the likelihood of that more than the GOP; Biden has a more "traditional" foreign policy.). Not to prevent Joe Biden, anyway.

CTH was very bullish about Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina, the former two of which I was skeptical of. I think the fact that we're not seeing a blowout is probably due to Biden's weaknesses which I've discussed elsewhere. If Biden continues his lead in Michigan and Nevada (and possibly acquires one in Pennsylvania), it will probably be because of Covid. Biden will be rather lucky Trump handled it so poorly.

Wasn't there speculation the GOP cheated in 2004? But the Dems didn't really pursue it.


McConnell will do whatever it takes to save himself, like the rat he is. He has what he wants, with or without Trump.

Yes... I remember some mysterious missing ballots in Ohio. If Kerry had won Ohio, it would have been the reverse of 2000; the sudden GOP antipathy for the greatest of our constitutional norms, the Electoral College, would have been amusing to watch.

Nevada is now up to 75% of the ballot and Biden is still in the lead. They're not going to call the thing today, though.

I kinda like Nebraska's idea actually. Districted areas to decide where which electoral vote goes. That seems a better utilization if they really want all the smaller sectors to be heard. If we were to keep the electoral college this seems better.

It's not bad and may just be what gives Biden the election.

If there would be a tie (without Nebraska and PA), it would have gone to the House, but they would have done some weird thing with the states rather than the whole house voting. Not sure what would have happened there.

I mean, I personally feel the virus is going to become a sort of endemic thing...there's not really a "cure" or "disappearance". Nevertheless I tried over and over to explain most people who went to early voting or absentee were democrats and that had been discussed for WEEKS how that was going to happen.

If they have to keep the electoral college, then the electoral votes should either be determined by county or by overall percentages of statewide votes. So if a state has 10 electoral votes and a candidate won 60% of the vote, they would get 6 out of 10 electoral votes.

I’d prefer to just have direct elections though, with preference ballots for all candidates polling over 1%

1% may seem low but that’s still a lot of people in a nationwide poll

Really? I was using AP all night last night. AP was calling some states hours before the major networks which was making me laugh. Wait. Announcement is coming out from Maricopa county, AZ as I type. They said they will have two updates as the night wears on. It appears there are 600,000 uncounted votes.
