I've noticed that both appear rather calm, are good with people, and possibly surprisingly analytical for feelers (I dig their Ti abilities!). High Ni users, as opposed to high Si users, are usually more open to discussing things that you can't tangibly see with your eyes. You can also spot the difference in Se vs. Ne. Lower Se people, in my opinion, have an inner wild party animal. Lower Ne people, to me, seem to focus on the plethora of horrible things that could possibly go wrong in the future. As if, they plan for future failure. I hope this all makes sense.

Not fair! Why do INXJs get to have fun with their inferior, and ISXJs are stuck being worry worts?

No, but really your second point is probably the best way to tell the difference.

Talking to self-aware friend tonight about this topic for my own purposes. He is INFJ and has lived with ISFJ girlfriend for 9 years.

Disclaimer: These snippets are based on their experience. I grant they may not represent these types overall!

ISFJ’s = factually traditional
INFJ’s = emotionally traditional

ISFJ’s may like to memorize things as they were. Imagine a Christmas dinner like in the movies. Classical atmosphere - the ISFJ may try to keep traditions and maintain the status quo.

INFJ’s enjoy the same dinner but are not upset if things are done differently. They care how they feel about it. That it feels good or enjoyable as experienced before.

ISFJ’s may have natural respect for authority whereas to an INFJ authority is not inherited, but gained. (ISFJ - monarchy INFJ- democracy).

ISFJ may put up a resistance to changing things. Difficult to change their mind perhaps but works better when collective does this (Fe gateway).

If collective change required an ISFJ may feel comfortable to fall within the lines, while an INFJ may or may not adopt the change and will be less pleased.

INFJ welcomes inward change but resists outward. Is more comfortable with trying things a different way to challenge ideas or known traits. Less open to changes in environment etc…

The biggest difference I've noticed is in social tier. ISFJs are usually near the top with the ESFJs and ESTPs (I've noticed a lot of them in a position that's essentially the quiet friend of an ESFJ). Although INFJs sometimes have a lot of friends, their main social group tends to be more toward the bottom tier, with the INTPs and INTJs.

You've been watching too many teen high school drama movies. :coffee:

Nope, but I recently got done living one. As a geeky, awkward INTP, I had a lot of INFJs in my circle, but not one ISFJ, ever.

That's interesting since rumor has it that ISFJ's are much more common in the population than INFJs ( about 14 to 1 I think). You sure you didn't mistype some of the people you know?

Yeah. I knew tons of SFJs in high school, I had classes with them, but we didn't hang out. In fact, we barely even spoke. I have known 5 INFJs in my entire life, and I've always felt naturally comfortable around them. When I went to a statewide choir event, I got paired with an INFJ roommate and I immediately felt this platonic attraction to her, like "hey, this person is cool." She turned out to be a typology enthusiast too, hahaha.

I always had a natural chemistry with INFJs too both platonic and romantic.

However, I've noticed I've become much better friends/partners with ISFJs in comparison. Two of my cousins ( I have a huge close family) are like my best friends and they are ISFJs and a current romantic interest of mine is ISFJ ( though tests usually type her as INFJ)

Oh, I love ISFJs. They're one of my favorite types. The problem is at my age I can't get any of them to talk to me :')

That was all that I wanted to type, I was in a hurry.
I can elaborate on that saying that ISFJ's lead with Si placing more emphasis on the known and significance of the object itself, whereas INFJ's lead with Ni and place more emphasis on the unknown and representation of the object.

Also the way they use Fe, ISFJ's are more likely to use Fe in a way that benefits themselves whereas INFJ's use it to benefit others.

I disagree with benefit. I know infj and isfj who use Fe to benefit self as well as vice versa. Not type related, personal morals related

Please explain this to me, it sounds interesting :D

ISFJs are the People's INFP. Many people are mistyped as INFPs are really ISFJs.

ESFJs are the People's ENFPs. Many people are mistyped as ENFPs are really ESFJs.

We have had threads on both recently.

SFs are the most common types for women, with 56% of women falling into those 4 categories.

Here is a chart

Now, since INFJs are rare, but super common on the internet, there should a common mistype for them.

I was just wondering what others thought on this.
