Questionnaire from forum:
1) What aspect of your personality made you unsure of your type?
It’s hard for me to notice my own patterns of thinking, because I think about things, I don’t think about how I think.
I have an idea of my type, but I need a second opinion.
2) What do you yearn for in life? Why?
I want to be independent, safe (have enough money, not be in danger), I want to be able to respect myself and see progress in my life. I want to become a better version of myself.
3) Think about a time where you felt like you were at your finest. Tell us what made you feel that way.
I don’t think that I’m ever “at my finestâ€, because while I make progress in one area of life, I usually have issues in another.
I’m satisfied with my life when I’m not stagnating, when I’m finally brave enough to make a change.
4) What makes you feel inferior?
My social status and social skills, also when I see that I’m less beautiful than someone else.
When I’m loosing control of myself, start being emotional and make decisions that are not good for me, when I’m exposing myself too much.
5) What tends to weigh on your decisions? (Do you think about people, pro-cons, how you feel about it, etc.)
The best way for me to make a decision tends to be thinking about what FITS me, not what is the best way to go for most people, not what other people want or recommend.
I usually imagine myself taking a certain path and think about if it makes sense or not, if it fits my future self (how I want to see myself).
6) When working on a project what is normally your emphasis? Do you like to have control of the outcome?
I don’t need to take control, but I don’t like when someone else takes too much control. I like when people are more or less equal.
7) Describe a time where you had a lot of fun. How is your memory of it?
To be honest, I tend to become sad thinking of these moments, because they are fleeting.
8) When you want to learn something new, what feels more natural for you?
I will start with the basics. The biggest obstacle for me would be if it’s not obvious what the basics are.
I like to try doing something immediately and learn by experience and search for information when I need it.
9) How organized do you think of yourself as?
My schedule is disorganized and tends to change, I don’t follow a routine and I’m late a lot. Though I will never be late if I know that there will be negative consequences for me.
I have a planner and I use it always, but I often shift my plans.
I don’t mind dirt around me, but I need things to be in predictable places. I hate it when things are just placed randomly everywhere.
I don't loose anything.
I like things to be organized, but not necessarily clean.
Though I want to appear clean to other people, because having a dirty home or a dirty table doesn't add you any points.
10) How do you judge new ideas? You try to understand the principles behind it to see if they make sense or do you look for information that supports it?
I try to see if it makes sense and if it explains something for me that I needed to be explained, if it helps me to connect the dots.
What will I do differently now that I know this?
11) You find harmony by making sure everyone is doing fine and belonging to a given group or by making sure that you follow what you believe and being yourself?
I gravitate more towards the second option.
12) Are you the kind that thinks before speaking or do you speak before thinking? Do you prefer one-on-one communication or group discussions?
I think before speaking.
I prefer one-one communication or small group discussions. I sometimes like huge groups, but only if it’s not a situation when a couple of the loudest people are speaking and everyone else has to listen to them or try to shout over them.
13) Do you jump into action right away or do you like to know where are you jumping before leaping? Does action speaks more than words?
I definitely don’t like to improvise. I want to know what I’m going to be doing before I start doing it.
Yes, actions speak louder than words.
14) It's Saturday. You're at home, and your favorite show is about to start. Your friends call you for a night out. What will you do?
I will go with my friends. I don't see people very often, so that's why I don't like to miss out on things.
15) How do you act when you're stressed out?
I think when I’m stressed out my view of reality in not quite right, I tend to think that everything is worse than it really is.
I usually recognize that I need a break and try to take it.
I think I usually rely more on someone else’s opinion while stressed out, need someone to guide me, sometimes even tell me what to do, because I don't see things clearly anymore.
Sometimes I will shut down, speak to nobody and do nothing.
I will probably cry.
16) What makes you dislike the personalities of some people?
I would say it’s hard for me to get along with people who are extremely energetic, people who are very emotionally open. I’m open and usually honest and I can discuss anything with anyone, but it’s hard for me to be friendly and warm right away.
I don’t like people who disregard other people’s points of view or feelings.
I don’t like people who want to control others and always have to be leaders.
17) Is there anything you really like talking about with other people?
I like talking about realizations that I recently had or topics that I read about online on in a book and discuss mine and other person’s points of view or just share information. I like to talk about best ways to do things in career and personal life.
I like to vent and talk about things that frustrate me.
18) What kind of things do you pay the least attention to in your life?
I would say I don’t pay enough attention to making friends and establishing connections with people, even though I like to communicate with others. I just don’t initiate usually.
I also concentrate on my own life instead of concentrating on global issues and trying to help solving them, but I think it's admirable when other people are doing something for more that themselves.
I also don’t go on a lot of adventures, I don’t travel, I tend to not broaden my horizons a lot in terms of experience.
19) How do your friends perceive you? What is wrong about their perception? What would your friends never say about your personality ?
To be honest, I don’t know how I’m perceived, but some people say that I'm cool and easy to get along with, which is surprising to me.
People at work wrote in their reviews similar things, but also I heard that I don't have a good work-life balance.
I also sometimes don't check things properly before completing my tasks.
20) You got a whole day to do whatever you like. What kind of activities do you feel like doing?
I will probably be reading or watching something, I will also do some chores.
I like to take time to organize myself and prepare for the following day or week (month, year).
I might go shopping or go to a restaurant or bar.
Sometimes I work on a weekend because nothing disturbs me and I can just calmly do what I need to do.
Questionnaire from Reddit:
Describe yourself in as much elaborate detail as possible (that still renders you anonymous, or to a level of acceptable comfort)
I’m a woman, I’m 25 years old. I work from home as a software engineer.
I live alone (I have 2 cats though).
To be honest, I don’t want to start throwing around adjectives that describe me in this section, because I won’t be objective anyway, so let’s just dive right into questions.
Why are you interested in knowing your type?
To be honest at this point I’m just curious and I want to finish what was started. I want to know if I’m right about my type.
I also want to see if I can get some tips from other people with my type.
Do you go to work and/or you in school? If so, what field/occupation/subjects?
I recently finished uni (Computer Science) and I’ve been working as a software engineer for about 2 years (+ several months of internship).
When I was younger, I worked in customer service for a little bit. That was pure hell. You are treated like crap, tired all the time and after all that paid almost nothing. It’s horrible. This experience gave me more motivation to pursue my career.
Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it?
My mother and grandmother were orthodox christians. I was told to pray, but no one ever explained anything to me, so I never believed in god. I said final goodbye to religion when I realized that god won’t help me and I have to solve my problems myself. I know god is not supposed to solve your problems, that’s just how I was thinking at the time.
I was always angry when someone tried to impose religion on me. I believe that people have a right to believe in anything, but I also have my right to not believe. It still irritates me when someone congratulates me on some religious holiday without asking if I’m christian.
I have a lot to say about my upbringing, but don’t want to get into it anymore. I’ve closed that chapter and don’t feel like talking about it anymore. I’m exhausted.
Do you need logical consistency in your life?
I think yes, at least I need to understand what makes sense and what doesn’t, but then I might choose to disregard it if that’s what I need to do in certain situation.
How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about?
To be honest, I don’t think that I come up with a lot of ideas. Sometimes I like to be creative in my mind, but I think I like atmospheres, vibes more than I like anything else in the area of ideas.
I’m curious, but I don’t think that I have a very broad knowledge of the world. I think that some things that I’m an expert of are not even that useful and I have no one that I can talk to about them.
If money was not an issue, what career/job would you have?
I think probably the same (I like my job, it was a perfect choice), but I would do something that I actually want to do instead of what I have to do.
I want to think that I would write a book, but that seems more like a fantasy, than a realistic option.
There was a point in my life when I wanted to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist, but that was also never really an option.
Sometimes we want the outcomes that a certain profession will give us or we have an unrealistic view of it, but we are actually not willing to do the everyday work that is required in that field.
Are you a free spirit or do you play by the rules? If so, why?
I don’t play by the rules unless I’m getting punished for not following the rules.
I don’t break the rules just to be a rebel, but I usually like to do things in way that is comfortable for me.
If I asked you to take a shot with a football how would that make you feel? Would you be able to do it well? Would you enjoy it?
It would be cool. I think I would do okay, but I’m not sure. I was bad at sports at school. I was only good at running. I was skipping physical lessons at school most of the time anyways.
I don’t do any sports now, I kind of forget about their existence.
Though I think it would be good for me to lift weights or do martial arts. I’m planning to do that in the future. Hopefully before I hit 30.
If I asked you to write me an essay, would you enjoy it? What would it be about? How would it make you feel?
Yes, I would enjoy it. I would write about something that I recently uncovered or something that bothers me, something that I think doesn’t make sense, so I would probably be arguing with some point of view that I don’t agree with.
Is it okay to crack a few eggs? If it makes an omelette? Do the ends justify the means?
Yes, I think it’s okay and necessary sometimes. I don’t want to be one of those eggs though.
Do you put things back in their proper place?
Yes, I do. I’m not clean, but I always put stuff back in its place.
Though when I’m doing something important, I can decide that now I’ll be messy, because right now it doesn’t matter, and I’ll create a total mess around me and seat in my cocoon of trash for some time. I know it’s bad, but it doesn’t bother me personally. I can sleep on the floor near the pile of trash.
But I hate when things are randomly placed. I’m that person that will move products on a shelf in a store if I see a mess.
How do you behave around strangers, acquaintances and friends?
I feel awkward around strangers, sometimes when I talk to someone that I don’t know I can be very aware of my face expression, of the way I move, but at the same time I feel weird and unable to control it and make my facial expression more cheerful, for example.
When I’m first getting to know someone I can be playful and sometimes even annoying on purpose if they are an introvert, but if they are a talkative extrovert, I’ll feel somewhat inferior and weird, I will probably just let them speak.
When I get to know people better, I’m less nice and more quiet, so I’m becoming more relaxed and authentic.
Do you have exquisite tastes that you would expend effort or money for?
I would put it this way: I don’t want to look cheap. I don’t like cheap phones, clothes that is more for teenagers than for adult women, products that were made by weird companies that are laughed at.
How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
I will help if I can, but I’m rarely asked to help.
How long do you take to make an important decision? How would you go about it? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
If I have no idea what I’m doing I need time to learn, but I actually think if it’s an important decision than I probably already know what to do, because it didn’t come out of nowhere, right?
It doesn’t take me long if I choose intuitively, so that's what I'm trying to do, because otherwise I might get paralyzed and the quality of my decision will not improve with time anyways.
If someone asks me a question, I frequently procrastinate on giving the answer.
I think it takes me more time to decide plates of what color I will buy in Ikea than deciding on something bigger. Those decisions are torturous, because things that I’m choosing between are similar and not that important, I don’t know what criteria to use to make such decisions so I end up doing something stupid like looking in the mirror and holding up plates to my face to decide which plate do I look better with. I feel like a clown.
I can change my mind after making a decision if I get new important information.
If I asked you to design a plan of action, would it be easier to work alone or in a group? Do you ask for others opinion? or stick to your own guns?
I like to work independently. I’m not very assertive, so I think when I work in a group I can’t promote my thoughts as much as I should and I have to do what others have decided to do. I don’t like that.
I would love to plan a project myself and make all decisions on my own.
I ask others for advice if I work with something that I know absolutely nothing about and don’t even know where to start (when I’m stuck).
A weekend best spent looks like ...?
I think the best weekend would be balanced. It’s not always like that for me though.
On the weekend I like to stay at home most of the time. I usually read, watch TV-shows or learn about something. My weekends are mostly chill and lazy. But I think that it’s probably necessary for me.
If I leave the house, I might go shopping or smoke hookah.
I also sometimes work on the weekend because no one disturbs me and I can calmly do what I need to do. I feel very accomplished when I do some work on Sunday so that on Monday I can be more relaxed.
My biggest fears are ...
My biggest fears are irrational. I’m very impressionable, so I don’t watch any horror movies, because I know I won’t be able to sleep at night forever after them.
I’m also afraid of spiders, worms, snakes.
I’m afraid of height and depth (the idea of slowly drowning in deep dark sea terrifies me).
How much do you express yourself and what mediums do you do that through? Art? Writing? Talking?
I don’t feel the need to express myself artistically. Sometimes I create different images or stories in my mind, but that’s as far as it goes.
I like to express my opinions though, share information and discuss it.
I would say I have a certain “theme†in my life, a certain style, but it’s not in your face, I don’t like being demonstrative.
Generally where do you lean politically? Is it every man for himself? Should people be pragmatic? Does the government need to step in and help people?
When I vote, I choose a candidate that I think will do better, but I also consider who has a chance to win. I think it’s really weird when people vote for a very unpopular candidate who will never win because they like them the most. I’m like, come on, choose someone who is the closest to what you want in a politician out of people who can actually win.
I’m actually not very involved with politics, because I doubt that people like me can really influence it.
There is a lot of propaganda and it really surprises me when the same person who criticizes one politician for their lies, thinks that someone else is completely honest and believes all their propaganda.
I think it’s okay to make decisions based on what will help you personally. I don’t mind when women vote for women, for example, if they think that it’s beneficial for them in one way or another to have a female politician in power.
I think it makes total sense, because yes, we all have to think about ourselves first, because no one else cares. Yes, we cooperate as a society, we spend time together, we influence each other, but at the end of the day you only really have yourself and you shouldn’t betray your own interests.
I think people in government have a job just like I do, they are not better than everyone else and they should do what they are paid for.
Does it matter if something is factually correct for you to believe in it?
It matters, but I also believe that information can be not only true or untrue, but also useful or not useful. I think that if something works for you, then that’s what matters. But I also don’t want to be naive and stupid, so I want to be aware when something is not true.
Are emotions/feelings an important aspect of your life? If so, then why?
I’m not sure. It’s not important, it’s just kind of there. I’m human and it’s a natural thing.
I think they influence me. I can sometimes become blinded with my emotions, do dumb stuff and feel ashamed afterwards. I won’t believe anyone who says that they never experienced anything like that, that’s impossible.
How attached are you to reality?
I was always more in my head than in the world around me. Sometimes I get so engrossed in daydreaming and thinking that it’s hard for me to go back and take care of my body or my environment.
How thick skinned are you? Are you sensitive to criticism?
To be honest, I want criticism, but I want constructive criticism. I think a lot of the times when I ask for it, I just get nice sugarcoated responses that are not useful whatsoever.
But I’m not very thick skinned, I can be very sensitive and butthurt sometimes, but I think that happens when someone is just rude. But I also suspect that I get butthurt more than I should.
