The Catholic Pope declared just yesterday, quite off his own bat, that child rape was now a crime in the Vatican and in Canon Law.
The corollary is that child rape was not a crime in the Vatican or in Canon Law until yesterday.
However the United Nations, under the Convention of the Rights of the Child, has requested the Vatican to make available the records it holds of child rape within the church. So far the Vatican has not made these records available.
