Yesterday ended up being a nice time with my friend. I met her south of town, took her to her cousin's, then I went to get my kids from school. Afterwards, I ran out to her aunt's house (one of her other cousins had given her a lift).
We visited with her aunt for awhile. Her aunt lived next door to my mom growing up. She and my friend's mom often tell me weird stuff about my mom when she was younger and about the years of my life before I can remember. I believe about a third of what they tell me, but they mean well and they are sort of like family, so I don't mind.
After we left my friend's aunt's we went by her kids' paternal great-grandma's for a quick visit and then back by her cousin's and while we were there, her ride called ready to meet her. I took her to meet her ride and she headed home.
My friend has changed a lot since she had kids. I find her much more relaxing to be with now. She used to be more into drama and excitement but with three little ones three and under, she seems to have more excitement than she knows what to do with.
The IEP meeting went well today. The principal even showed up and didn't act weird. She was really nice and the whole thing was very comfortable and relaxed.
Cyborg's lack of focus is a pretty common thread, so I talked with his teacher about it. I decided that if he continues to make steady progress with his reading, I won't ask the doctor about medication. His teacher thought that sounded like a good plan.
She said he is doing well socially and that he is always kind. That is music to my ears. Maybe I shouldn't take credit, but they blame parents for all the bad stuff, so I'm just going to take credit here. I have a baby of the family, autistic son with an IXTP personality and he is sweet and kind. GO ME!
And here's a little funny: They have a place in the IEP form to interview the student about their strengths/interests and concerns. As a concern Cyborg has "At home I worry about the computer freezing when I'm playing Marble Arena."
