We are all born into a spoken culture in our families where we learn to speak our spoken language, whether it is Japanese, English, or Swahili. And some of us grow up in spoken tribes, without literacy. But then most of us in prosperous countries are compelled by State Law to go to school to learn to read and write.
And we can tell by the language we use, and how we use it, at what level of literacy we have reached. For instance, our Commander in Chief doesn't read books and doesn't like to read even briefing papers, and we can all hear he speaks in a quasi childlike manner, not in a highly educated literate manner.
And it turns out the people he speaks for, his base, are semi-literate like him, and fully understand and appreciate his style of speaking. And so vote for him, because a vote for our Commander is a vote against the literate individual. It is difficult for the semi-literate to openly acknowledge their hatred of the literate, but they can express it by voting for the Commander, and take their revenge that way.
The semi-literate are riding high because they now have their own overwhelming technology beginning with the electric telegraph, followed by the telephone, the television, the radio, and now the net. Why, the most powerful man in the world doesn't read books.
And when we listen we can hear the poverty of language in the TV generation and the generation of the net. And what we haven't quite picked up on is their hidden hatred of the literate, and their passion for revenge.
