We seek things on the cheap because we hold ourselves cheaply.
So we come here because we seek psychometrics on the cheap in mbti. Mbti is a cheap, popular form of psychometrics, and it is so cheap it doesn't even deliver the goods. But we like it because it is cheap, we have a taste for the cheap, it is familiar, we are at home with the cheap, the cheap is simply intuitive, and we take to the cheap like ducks to water.
And the cheap is more than skin deep, the cheap goes right down to our language and the way we express ourselves. We use cheap language because we think it is cool, and hey, everyone else is doing it.
We speak in cliches because they are cheap, they require no thought, they are easily understood. Cliches are cheap, they leave a bad taste because they have been in too many mouths.
We retail cheap ideas, we just copy the ideas of others, as though they are newly minted. And as we think, so we act. We think cheaply and so we act cheaply.
But worse, we spoil ourselves with cheap feeling. It's what everyone else is feeling so it must be alright.
We watch cheap movies, we watch tv, we read trashy novels and magazines, and we read the astrology column as though it applies personally to us.
And then we defend it all with common psychological defences, we defend the cheap with our cheap ego.
