It has been more than 200 years since the Enlightenment gave us the concept of Liberté, égalité, fraternité. So now, in the new millennium, we can either accept the reality of the brotherhood of man as introduced by the Age of Enlightenment, or we can cling to the archaic remnants of the Catholic Crusader age as represented by the English monarchy, and reject the Enlightenment. Indeed, we note on the British coat of arms the lion, the emblem of crusader king Richard the Lionhearted, who embraced bandits and opposed his own brother. So we can embrace the rapturous entrancement of Richard's jihad, or we can become illuminated by the light of reason.
