Yay! :static: I had a very successful day at work today!

She didn't ask me to, but I answered the phone twice and took messages. I scored a couple of points! Firstly, I made sure I informed one caller that I had only been on the job one hour, so I would have to ask the boss to call him back. He told me to tell my boss I was doing a great job. On the inside I thought, "Hey how about if you tell her? It'll mean more coming from you." Sure enough, when she returned his call, I heard her refer to me in the conversation! :) Secondly, when I write down people's names, if they are a little unusual, I will write out a phonetic pronunciation, so I don't mess it up. Well, I did that for her and she said she liked that I did that! Woo-hoo! A compliment from an ESTJ!!

I can't WAIT until I get to take control of that computer though. They use AOL! I did a quick area code search and there were two pop-up ads! :steam: I hate pop-up ads. She does have a broadband connection though, so that's nice.

OH! One of the computers has Windows 98 on it! It was an x86, but apparently that can mean several things. It was excruciatingly slow to load. It had 191 MB of RAM on it, and was only 70% full, so not sure why it was lagging so bad. It's being replaced, but it has a very important Access database on it. I didn't take notice of the size of the hard drive.

The boss is not very computer literate. It was quite amusing to watch her method for making a new folder! She started a new document, clicked save, and made a new folder to save it into. Tee-hee.

Ref phone calls... must remember the phone-etik spelling thing... I keep getting that wrong.

Ref the computer, probably needs a defrag, the mft resizing, perhaps more space (a hard drive that's over 50% full tends to be extremely slow). Registry defrag probably wouldn't hurt.

Try Diskeeper (free to try), page defrag free from MS).. stuff like that. It should help.

Overall though I shall hold my tongue with the "told you so" and just say well done :D
(whilst polishing my INTP name badge.... :whistling: )

Well, you did tell me so. I was just having a confidence crisis.

re the computer: I'm hoping I won't have to touch that computer. She is replacing it with a new one with XP on it. And I don't actually trust defrag that much. I've had bad luck with defrag on older machines. So I certainly don't dare use it on a machine with Win 98. If I messed up her Access database, I'd be OUT the door!

The reason she sent me over to use THAT computer is because the desk was cleaner. As Jennifer was saying yesterday, that matters to a Te. They organize their work space. I've decided though that I really hate it when someone organizes my work space for me. I want to set it up MY way, in a way that increases speed and efficiency.

RE: the way she made a new folder for me. It's not like that really helped. I don't know what folder that folder is in! In the time it's going to take me to find her folder, I would probably be able to make 10 of my own.
