Some of my favorite quotes come from Richard Feynman.
In many cases of certitude I have found that even when the person has researched extensively to create their conclusions, the need for certitude creates blindness to any information that conflicts with the construct of ideas. Some people have even said that their strength is in their certitude, but it demonstrates itself often to be a weakness because it eliminates the ability to grow. Our minds have been shown to have selective perception and embracing certitude exaggerates this innate flaw blinding us to the ways we are wrong. It creates traffic jams in idea space.
Richard Feynman said:We have found it of paramount importance that in order to progress, we must recognize our ignorance and leave room for doubt.
Richard Feynman said:The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.
