I also think looking at underlying motivations is important. A lot of the times we can use functions that are not our types "go-tos" as supplements to the main functions which are really the core processes that we have a knack for and tend to require less development. If you'd like, I can share some personal examples I've found with my type (ENFP) when I get the time. My Si actually can appear to be stronger than my Te because of my interests and where they have taken me. This is a problem with tests because they cannot account for variations like this, especially when asking what one tends to do good at if they have developed such a skill through Work/education/hobbies/interests
Also, I find there is a way in which Fi and Fe can seem similar. Fe is out to create a sense of unity. On the other hand, Fi is out to establish an individual's authenticity. This can lead to creating unity, it happens for me since being a divisive figure and making conflict does not feel authentic to me. So I could appear vaguely Fe at times, but my motivations are driven by Fi. That's the process intrinsically behind the behavior.
