So I have continued with my watch on and off and just finished "Ozymandias." So, two more episodes to go.
I think one big thing I notice when I binge watch is how compressed the time is. The story that aired over a number of years really doesn't cover that much time in terms of story. The show is literally two years of time -- it pretty much starts with Walt's 50th birthday, then ends on his 52nd.
For example, it seems like Walt really only has a drug empire (that he himself runs) for about 3 months before he makes 90 million dollars and bails, and then another month until Hank has that fateful moment, leading into the final eight episodes. those episodes only aired one a week, but in story time, they are all very compressed. The episode before Ozymandias occurs on the same day -- Skyler is even wearing the same clothes -- and maybe even the episode before that. But it's really just over a few days in time.
The acting and writing is just phenomenal, it is always interesting and non-cliche. Same goes with BCS. But it's just nice even when I don't particularly like a character (Marie for example), they are still consistent characters that feel very real.
I think it's funny how quickly (once you get through three seasons, and Walt has some really big lies in there, like his "fugue state") characters start to catch on. Especially in the final episodes of the series, he goes on these really slick-sounding self-justifying lies but by that point everyone is onto him and calls him out pretty quickly. Even his own son is calling him out, although at first it's because he thinks his dad is lying about passing out from cancer.
Also when you fast-watch it, it's easier to track a lot of secondary characters -- like, I recognized a number of Mike's guys who show up in the prison sequence, from the episode or two they appeared in previously (scattered about in the plot).
There's a lot of funny moments in the show, mostly due to knowledge of the plot and characters. That awkward dinner with Jesse (trying to please), Walt (trying to annoy Skyler and a bit drunk), and Skyler (taciturn and not wanting to be there) had me laughing so hard I was almost wheezing.
