Does it matter that he's actually been to space and been an astronaut? Or are sources like that just as fallible as the "man in the street"?
I've heard about others having epiphany like experiences in space, I've even heard that the Russian space station Mir and International Space Station were maintained in part as they were constant reminders to think beyond national borders and boundaries to a whole earth perspective, and I've heard astronauts interviewed about that too.
