I've heard the view expressed that this is a second age of TV and that writers want to work on TV as its like writing a book as opposed to writing a short story. Do you think that's a good or proper analogy?

I actually like short stories and think they can be harder to write and do so well than longer forms of fiction sometimes as you need to develop character, world building, back story and plot in a shorter number of words, if at all, but I dont think its a case of one being good and the other bad.
